Look I know it is wrong but I am sick and tired of taking a passive role just because someone said something. They are not gonna report they were wrong the guy was full of it and most people form an opinion on what was said so I say screw them I have been riding for 30 years and we never seem to get a fair shake on bikes unless we are doing something for someone else. I say guess that guy and all people should be watching out for motorcycles for alot of reasons and maybe they actually will!!!!! |

PS - what newspaper? I admire you Johnnys that can turn it on - 500 words - Editable from the bottom, in quick succession. I get a good rate doing Bike tests and features, but it's leisurely, I can't pump it out like a news pro. I've Art Directed for several. My first ever job was as a Boy at the Sydney Morning Herald. Saturdays - right through high school. |

Here's a theory: There is a new trend starting in larger cities where large groups of sport bikes get together to take over an interstate and do stunts. When we went to NYC to visit family and go to Liberty's open house we came across such a group. What they do is a round robbin, where the back bikes slow down and hold up traffic to open up the freeway and the bikes in the front start the peg standing wheels. The guys in NYC need more practice. I thought for sure one of them was going to dump it. If this guy on the 911 call refused to yield to the bikes in the back that were slowing down traffic for the front bikes, then that could have sparked the conflict. Now in NYC, I was right behind the group of riders and could have passed them on the left, but did not. When I realized what was going on I gave them plenty of room so if one did go down they would not get run over. AS for being a roll model, well you can not please all the people all the time. Throw in the fact that people do not like to be passed and a motorcycle to the mix, and you really throw the balance of power off. So they speed up or veer left to prevent you from passing. "Crazy kids and their motorbikes!" So as much as I would like to be a steward of the sport, there is no way I am going to please all the people all the time. For the most part I quit worrying about it. I am a stewart of riding by riding to work, showing you can use a bike for more than wheelies on the freeway. |

I know. I don't want to be a representative of a community. I just want to ride. Those squids need to be shot. There is a group of tools in Providence RI that do that crap too. They don't block the highway but they do retarded stunts in the city through intersections. |

...and the Lord Spoke, saying, "First thou shalt take out thy holy pin. Then thou shalt count to three. No more, no less. Three shall be the the number of the counting, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shall thou not count. Neither count down two; excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out! Once the number three, being the third number be reached, then lobbeth thou, thy holy hand grenade of Antioch, toward thy foe, who, being naughty in thy sight, shall snuff it. |

Hey DD -- mmmm -- I'm with a medium-size daily in Charlottesville Virginia. I'm actually a columnist, but with the new American business model of doing more with less, I've gone to being whatever they need when they need it. The problem with doing daily stuff is that writing becomes automatic, you write, you finish, you move on to the next story, sort of like Charles Emerson Winchester III on M.A.S.H. At least as a columnist I get to use adjectives. |

>> At least as a columnist I get to use adjectives.<< Brilliant. The 'do it all' business model is a great way to up-skill though. I can do every job a on a magazine except sub or editor now. Do you go to editorial meetings in leather? It took them a while to get used to it, but the designers have carte blanch on quirky in most publishing houses. I dined out on it.
