Treadmarks, Thanks for the offer, the BAS only acted up when I went down off road and it didn't do it's job, or at least not before I could hit the switch. I almost forgot that I rigged up a trial heat barrier. I've ridden once with it on but forgot that I did the mod. Maybe it helped... |

I wish I could agree with some of you guys about consulting the dealer first, but I have to say that my experience with both the dealer and Buell Customer Service has left me completely cold on that idea. EVERY single visit to my dealer over the last two years has resulted in a return trip for rework. A call to BCS did absolutely NOTHING but waste more of my time. My last trip to get my drive belt replaced under warranty resulted in a marred swing arm brace. I got a promise from the dealer to replace the damaged part two weeks ago, but I have not seen that honored yet. Yes, I keep going back, but I keep hoping the next time I do, they will have their heads out of their asses. So, if someone is turned away from Buell because of a hastily posted issue posted here, it matters not to me in the least. I think if I buy another HD product, it will have the HD name on it. Hopefully, then I will get the service they are known for. At my dealer at least, my bike is treated like it is a special needs case. |

About 800 miles on my '08 and have not seen any surging. A pop or spit now and then going up from idle when it's warm but figure that's the nature of the beast |

Mine has surged and hesitated since day one. I have always thought it normal. It only happens at low speeds and I have learned to compensate for it at really low speeds by using a lot of clutch to smooth it out. |

Well, the dealer claims that it is fixed now, but I don't think he even knew what the problem was. Just reset everything after doing the 1k maintenance and had a guy who owns a uly ride it to see if it was running OK. He said he didn't even have the technical manual yet for the 08 models. So we'll see. Here's hoping it's really fixed. I'll update the thread later on the status when I try out the bike. |

Just to add a positive to the dealer thing, my salesguy just called to remind/invite me to their open house on tuesday night and see how I was liking the bike. Bought the bike on 7/8/07, they (Phil Peterson's north) do a photo as you get your bike and sent photo magnets, calendar and some cards to hand out. No big 4 dealer that I know of, around here at least, goes that far- and it was really pretty easy for them. So basically a note to say that not all dealers are treating Buell like a stepchild. Yeah there is more harley there and they are more comfortable with HD, but they care, they are doing well (IMO so far)and trying to improve and showcase the Buells a bit more. The Buells are right at the front door as you walk in. I barely can drag myself into the kawasaki dealer and a friend works there. It is just run so badly and is kind of dark, bikes are crowded and generally not fun. Ruined by a multi shop, absent, corporate owner. |

New customer appreciation night is tuesday for us also, got a phone call from them and invited and got an invitation in the mail. I will be there if I'm not working. Mine is an 07 and surges also. Today in the 50 degree weather was the first time I was able to drive 15 mph relatively smooth with out riding the clutch. Temp related or break in related I don't know. |

Yes, not all Buell dealers suck. I have heard nothing but good things from lots of happy owners. They just suck most heinously in Grandview, MO. I had a great experience right up until the first service where they overfilled my oil. At the 5k service, they forgot to install some bolts under the seat. At 10k, they destroyed my fork caps. At 15k they temp-installed my scoop and pinched some wires (left me stranded). The last thing was the swingarm brace I mentioned before. I didn't mention that they also backed my bike into the wall at the dealership. I also witnessed them drop a pretty red Firebolt. The owner was inconsolable. He totalled it less than an hour later in an unrelated incident, but since my dealer sucks so bad, I am sure that was somehow their fault too - they probably temp-installed the front brake caliper or something. |

The bike is much better but it has still surged at 3k-ish. But it is mostly back it its usual self. Nevertheless, I'm going to replace the ECM with something configurable that actually works if there are any options for this motorcycle. |

You aren't the only one with a lumpy running 08, and }I understand that they're working on a fix. |
