i'm thinkin' of hitting the road (in my jeep) - me and the dog for a few weeks. leaving from milwaukee - any suggestions for great routes, cool out-of-the-way places, quaint towns, scenic things, national treasures? open to camping with a hotel every couple of nights... bring on the suggestions! D p.s. might also be fun to drop in on you folks (as long as my well-behaved, likes to sleep close to me, 80lb black lab is welcome too) on my road trip - drop me a PM if you've got a spare room for a night or two - maybe i'll plot a route based on that and call it a badweb tour

wheeling in moab, UT and grand junction, CO http://www.adventure4wd.com/pix2001moab/index.html (i'm the red cherokee with yellow decals) had a fabulous time, but also got myself a whopper of a head injury last time i went on hard core trails. not sure i'd be happy with milder trails, and i KNOW that i'm not willing to take the sheetmetal damage on my current jeep.......hmmmm, could be scenic though! Michigan, UP, Porcupine Mtns, Copper Harbor, Houghton/Hancock mine tours (I stay with a friend in Lake Linden, trust me you would be welcome there and would be well worth the visit, LOL, Ask for the Tweety Bird room), Picture Rocks in Munising, Sault Ste Marie Locks, Drummon Island, Mackinaw Island, M-119(Tunnel of Trees), Harbor Springs, Petoskey. Detroit Greek Town, Dearborn (Henry Ford Museum), Kalamazoo Air Museum. Thats a big loop getting you headed back west towards home. About 3-5 days worth. I live in Michigan, but I would move to Alabama The "Other" Promised Land. |

Daytona on your way to the Florida keys. Be sure to visit Alabama Jack's on the way to key west. Usually a number of riders there on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g34344-d491818-Reviews-Alabama_Jack _s-Key_Largo_Florida_Keys_Florida.html |

If you do make it to southern Michigan for the Detroit area, you and your dog would be more than welcome to our spare bedroom (depending on when of course and that your black lab would get along with our 105lbs black lab). Our dog gets along with all dogs. I live outside Ann Arbor which is 30mins from Detroit and Dearborn area. Hard Corps |

Four miles from my shop, near the end of the Homer spit is a funky little bar called the Salty Dawg. Local rif-raff rubbing elbows with Hollywood. 15 miles from the Fullpower world headquarters is the Anchor Point beach, The furthest westerly point of the entire North American road system. On the shore of cook inlet, four active volcanoes are visible ( when I say "active volcanoees" I mean that in my lifetime each of the 4 has dumped measurable ash on my head.)

Fullpower - that is the name of that place "The Salty Dawg" Used to anchor at the spit before going to Drift River to load. I can't believe it was 26 years ago. |
