I just picked up a D&D slip on for my 2000 M2. My bike has the original front exhaust mount bracket instead of the Y bracket. The instructions don't say whether the Y bracket is required, but I see on Sporttwin's web site they claim that the Y bracket is mandatory. Can anyone shed some light on this? Has anyone installed the D&D with the original bracket or do I need to pick up the Y bracket? Thanks for your help. |

BJack, Get the "Y" bracket installed by your dealer. It should be a free upgrade. If they disagree, ask them to call their Buell Zone manager or Buell Customer Care. Still disagree, try calling Buell Customer care yourself; their number is (414) 343-8400 Make sure they properly ground the voltage regulator when re-orienting it for the new bracket installation. |

The D&D full system (headers and pipe) requires the Y bracket because the collector mounts to the OUTSIDE of the Y bracket. It simply will not fit on the stock hanger. I'm not sure how the slip on fits to the bracket with the stock header. Photo of mount |

Hootowl and Blake, thanks for the info. The slip on has a single mounting flange that connects to the front exhaust bracket. I can't tell by eyeballing it if it will work with the original bracket. The only picture I've seen of the slip on mounted on a Buell was in B2win magazine when they reviewed the D&D. That bike had the Y bracket. If anyone else has any thoughts on this, let me know. Thanks again. |

It will probably fit, but as Blake said, get the new hanger, it's free, and a whole lot more durable. |

Hootowl, Anything special you did when installing the two pipes into the collector? Mine has had an exhaust leak around them ever since the day I installed it. I've tried smaller clamps, as one guy here reccomended. I'm about to just seal it up with some gasket goo, but I have to drop the whole thing to change the tranny fluid. Alex |

Awprior: Tighten the clamp in one spot, then loosen it, move it a little and tighten it again. Do this until you've moved the gap in the clamp all the way around the pipe. Hope that fixes it for you. |

Bjack, Are you jetting the bike also? I just posted a new conversation about pretty much the same thing... D&D told me that I did not have to rejet and Blake said to replace the pilot jet with a #45. What are you doing? If that "Y" bracket is free that ROCKS! I am going to try and call. Dirty |

Dirty, I have rejetted to the #45. I got the Y bracket put on and installed the D&D tonight. Haven't had a chance to get out for a ride, but when I started it up, the M2 sounded great. Good luck with your project. |

Bjack, If you wouldn't mind please tell me if you like all the changes, #45 jet and the pipe... that's exactly what I want to do. Also, your cost for the parts if that is ok. My research has the pipe at about 280.00 for the black satin finish. Thanks, Dirty. |

Dirty, I was able to take a quick ride last night. Noticeable improvement in the mid-range. Compared to the stock exhaust the D&D is really LOUD! Not obnoxious but louder than I expected. After I have some more seat time I'll give you an update. BJack |

Bjack, Thanks for the update. I went ahead and ordered the pipe and picked up the #45 pilot jet. I also used that Bulliten at my local dealer to get the free "Y" bracket...they had no idea about it but they are hooking me up. Should have it operational by Saturday. Any advice on the setup or is it pretty straight forward? Thanks, Dirty. |

Dirty, The Y bracket can't be free. I got mine last month for the $100 Goodwill warranty. Call Buell and tell them to charge you too. Really makes you feel good when customers are treated equally. |

Leeaw, HA! You never know! They may have just told me that it was free and when I go to pick it up (new pipe in hand and there is no turning back) they may charge me for it! I will keep you posted on what the final out come is...at this point I just want my bike to rumble. Dirty. |

I would also like to know more about this FREE "Y" mount and if my dealer knows about it. I am about to install the Buell Pro Series Exhaust on my 2000 X1M with original mounts. Any pointers or suggestions? Has anyone had their aftermarket header Jet-Hot coated? Prices? I may wait till winter to have them coated, too much riding time left in summer. |
