One of the things that you missed while in the Northwoods was that the company that Dyna worked for shut down the plant. They apparently met his requests and he is working (for now) in Madison. I started a new job about weeks ago in Madison. I am currently commuting from Milwaukee to Madison every day until we sell our house and find one there. |

Char, Not real familiar with the Madison area. Any advice would be welcomed! We have been looking at houses online trying to get an idea of what is out there for the $$ that we want to spend. The current offerings are pushing us down towards Janesville. That would leave me with about a 40 minute commute. The upside to the commute would mean I could take the bike in the summer!!! Sara (my wife) would like to be in a new(er) house. The new stuff around Madison is pricey. Pushing $200k for what we would like to get. My understanding is that the west side is pretty good, but once again pricey. |

Char, i know where you are coming from about working for the Indians. My boss spend 9 years of his life trying to help them out on reservations and he has some stories that you wouldn't believe. Its very sad to watch them away a good thing because of a feud. Luckily, NASCO (Native American Services Corp.), from who we take occasional jobs, has its stuff together and is a pleasure to work with/for. None of the "what chief says goes, wont budge an inch" crap that seems to happen so often. I am glad that the reservations around my area are really cleaning themselves up, with the help of there casinos. Idaho! Gorgeous country up north Idaho! Is that the Couer d'Alane? Not sure what tribes are up there... Should of turned down the bayfield job and gone with the Oneida... seems the more casino money the more people get an education the more they open their minds... there are some really great people up there that i met, it is just half of them are not!!! thanks for the post charlotte |

Hey Char, That 40 hr cert alone is good enough to make you some decent $$$ on any base as a Haz-mat compliance inspector. Check the GSA listings. There's got to be a base near you. I've got interesting things planned for my Haz-tech certification after I retire from the Marine Corps... Hope the job situation pans out for ya... P.S. - Whenever I see race on an application or am asked for it, I say American >> . << |

Char, we have the Coeur d'Alene tribe and the Nez Perce up here. The Cd'A tribe has made leaps and bounds as far as improvement goes. With the Casino money, they have built several new schools, started building housing so they could get there people out of the mobile homes, and they have managed to help a lot of the indians get off the firewater. The Nez Perce are taking a bit longer as they dont really have any major cities around to support a big casino, but they are on the way to recovery as well. |
