Char- So glad you had a great trip. Now you can understand those folks who just keep going until they one day have traveled all the way around the planet, some on bikes, some on boats, some just trekking. First let me say I haven't met you yet..but I have enjoyed seeing your travels thank you! I am hoping to do something like that someday. Holy crap! That dog looks exactly like mine.. She is a rescue dog from Tennessee, maybe clipped tails in labs is common down there? even so its freaky   | ||

I am house sitting... Cocoa is a great dog... although she slept in the middle of the bed last night and hogged all the covers! I was relegated to the left quarter of the bed and woke up to find pillows on the floor! I am not sure what kind she is, but definitely some kind of mix. She even sits the same way your puppy does! Too funny. | ||

OK... so here is what I have been thinking... TAKE OFF FOR PHASE II ON APRIL 15th !!!  There are not a ton of jobs in my field here in RTP area... and I am coming up against there being sublets available June through August... only a few here and there for April and May... SO, If I leave on the 15th, then I would travel until the 4th of July and end up in... SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA... and take Jerry and Kathlene up on living in the love shack when they don't need it. I don't even have to go back to Madison, as I could pack up here and then ship anything extra back to Wisconsin... to put in the trunk of my car... SO, what do you think, guys ? Once in a lifetime, yes ? DC, NYC, upstate NY, NH, VT, ME... southeast Canada to Sault St Marie, UP Michigan to Northern Wisconsin, MN to Thunder Bay and then across to Seattle and down to SO CAL... Ten more weeks... for a truly epic journey... I got the travelin bug... | ||

Thanks Babs. Right now I am unfortunately not planning a Phase II any time in the near future. I actually sat down and figured out how much it cost to do Phase I.  That was a rather unpleasant surprise !!! Still worth it though. At the moment it is looking like I will spend a few more weeks here in Chapel Hill, and then move on down to Wilmington for a while. But I will be going up to Wisconsin for Homecoming and wrapping up some loose ends in Madison in the early part of June. Being an adult is highly over-rated... but it must be done !!!  | ||

OK. So several people have suggested that I write an article about this trip. I also met the CEO of the AMA down in Daytona and he gave me the card of the AMA Editor in Chief... whom I also met...let's see what I did with the card. So, I was going through photos and found some pretty decent bonus shots. Anyone who can guess what they are, can win a free buscuit. Unless, you are actually in the photo, which in that case it doesn't count. LOL! |
