Ah, Piedmont blues, different than the rest, but still blue. What are "we" gonna' do when the trip is over? Go back to our boring lives as pit ponies in the work-a-day life? You've given us a window seat on your odyssey and the vicarious hope that we, too, can drag the pegs over sweepers through purple mountain's majesty and across the fruited plain. In less than 24 hours I am rolling into Chapel Hill... This is what it looked like when I had the Piglet shipped out of Wisconsin...  It is rather warm out. The muppets have calmed down after raising hell on me this morning. I see a lot of dogwood, redbuds and tulip trees blooming around here. As Court says, when it all turns to sh*t... "Congratulations !"... The entire trip has far exceeded my expectations in people's hospitality and generousity... EVERYONE I stayed with was great... and Jim, who I didn't stay with, but he loaned me his house for three days, was great... | ||

Char: If you are heading through Reidsville NC, there is a BBQ place downtown called Short Suger's. Excellent pulled pork and hush puppies! Town is just south of Danville VA. Pretty good Best Western on the north side of town, just east of the highway. By the way, you aren't missing anything up this way...rain/snow and highs in the low 30's the rest of week! | ||

Cannot seem to find what the milage was when I started... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat !!!  Thanks guys. Tomorrow at 1400 hours I begin planning for Piglet's Phase II. Maybe take off in August, September for a north route out west ??? We will see. This is such a great country we live in... can drop everything and just go see some of the most beautiful people and places on the planet !!! | ||

Hi char It was a honor and privledge to meet you in daytona.I have followed your adventure here on the bad web.I have been an avid motorcyclist for most of my life.[haven't owned a car since 1973].I was very impressed by your trip.I know alot of seasoned riders who wouldn't even considered such an adventure.Especialy at that time of year or who would have given up along the way.I am truly impressed!!!! I also need to thank you for getting my picture on bad web.After the breakfast with erik on friday at daytona you asked about the decals on my airbox. I wanted to let you know i ordered the decals for the airbox and the round emblems for the saddlebags. When i get them i will contact you and get your address where to ship them. Once again it was a honor to meet you. | ||

Looks like you picked a good day for the last leg. You're moving to a pretty cool area for riding (my wife's from nearby): you'll have a pro-Buell dealer in Raleigh (Ray Price) and good backroads in the area. A lot of riders gather every (?) Sunday at a shopping center about half-way between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro (formerly known for a restaurant called "Michaels" which closed). It's a good place to meet fellow riders and learn new roads. Be sure and hit Elmo's in Chapel Hill for breakfast (or any other meal) first chance you get. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! |
