Charleston is a national treasure. I didn't even have a sliver of a clue about it, but had wandered into the historic district, which in most towns consists of a handfull of buildings. So, I paid an arm and a leg to stay in a hotel downtown, and decided to walk around and check things out. What follows are photos I took. I should have been an architect... or I should have been a historian... or maybe I have should have been a female pirate... Charleston used to have those too! Anyone who knows more about any of the buildings or The Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon chime in. This town is a real treat! I will now be looking for work in the Charleston area, sincerely. Used to be simple. Have a "Sportster fob" as a reminder for over 30 years..... This was particularly emotional for me as my grandfather was a Marine who drove an amphibian onto Iwo Jima and Peluilui, and this ship was there to protect him. Gorgeous ship. I love my country !!!
