Have six rooms reserved for Cali Blastards and/or folks that also wish to do the Cali SLO ride. Travel Lodge - 1825 Monterey St., (805)543-5110) 78.50 satThere are a lot of Blastards here in Cali and yet very few of us have met one another in person. Here is your opportunity to get a good set of rides in, meet the folk/friends you have been conversing with over the net and share riding stories, and enjoy the sharing of a passion we all have in common - Buell. Last years ride was a lot of fun and the roads and folk where awesome! Truely an adventure you'll remember! The twisties are calling your name - can you think of more fun filled reply?! Heres your chance to compare notes and make friends, and this is California after all - a place known for great roads - our mission is to find them! Bring your ride, make some friends and enjoy a great time! San Louis Obispo is the meeting point - join us - the origionals plus already! So join in some fun and create some memories to recall. Let the ride To SLO Part Tre' Begin! (again the ride will be April 1,2, & 3!) Disclaimer: This ride is in no way associated with Buell, the BADWEB, or any of its organizers. This is a voluntary gathering of fans of the Buell Blast. No one is leagally responsible for another on this ride or gathering - we all agree that we are responsible adults in charge of our own behavior, and that a safe and sober ride is our own responsibility and expected of us. Housing, feeding, and personal care is each our own responsibility. Showing up for this voluntary event will be a sign of accord of the above statement and will be taken as acceptance of such. That said: Please make sure your bike is in good working order, that you are in good working order, and that you are prepared for any contingencies that may occur (a cell phone and Brag Roadside Assistance Membership would be a great idea, any tools you feel you'll need, etc.). I will reserve a small block of rooms (8 rooms are reserved at the Travel Lodge - 1825 Monterey St., (805)543-5110), however, such rooms will be shared (unless you bring your significant other - that counts as sharing - ;0)) and any other lodging arrangements will be your own responsibility - so if you want your own room - you'll need to arrange such. The Idea and goal of this event is to meet and share a little time together having fun and enjoying a ride! Each of us may participate as much or little as they please, however, thanks to those participating so far it looks to be a promising start to a fun event! People will becomming from the South as well as the North, and we have had out of state folks as well each ride - let me know folks! A little taste of the SLO Ride - Skyline/35 is terrific - here's some pics I did of the warm up practice ride I took - it was a great day -            Yes - the SLO ride will again be the Bomb! Even alone - or with just one friend - it would be one of the best rides you could do - And the Northern effort may have five folks all together - and who know what the South may show with? The pictures will help tell the tale much better than my words alone -   I started my trip to the cafe in a lite drizzle, where I met Scott who would be sending me off from Alices on 35 - he had to head off to work - poor guy.  To get through this humble point of 35 we traveled through hard rain and hail, however, the bad weather leaves us here and its smooth sailing ahead! Alice's is the clasic motorcycle hang out, however, Scott and I are the only ones there - I guess we are the hardcore of the Bay area that day - lol   I say goodbye to Scott here, sending him back to work and bad weather - lol - and I'm off to enjoy famous roads with my chaiser/girlfriend following behind - with hot coffee and sandwiches to enjoy on cold breaks - bless her - lol  hwy 9 is so twisty that there is no place to stop and take a picture without getting run over, however here is a picture where it intersects with 35 - executing a full 180 turn to start the fun all the way to Saratoga! A few minutes on 85 then its back roads to Uvias and more twisty roads and scenery -   from here I'll hit Hecker's Pass to St. Theresa st. to hwy 25 where the fun begins anew!   Hwy 25 is the teaser that leads to Peachtree -   Indian Valley is more of the same, however, the road is a little older on the upkeep so awareness is needed - lol - but both have long sections of single width ribbons that wind around and over the hills each curve revealing a new scene of natural beauty.   I stopped took a picture, played with the dog and had the roads to ourselves - the weather keeping most everyone off the road. Continued..... (Message edited by ezblast on April 05, 2006) | ||

Funny thing - I will see this little piece of scenery below 3 times near Indian Valley's end - it is breath taking in real life for its sheer natural beauty  I get to a new bridge that is a back door to San Miguel and the Mission there - taking hwy 101 from there to San Luis Obospo to meet my fellow Blasterds - James, Eric, Dallas and myself rounding out this cast of the 4 musketeers - lol - time spent on a ride that would only take 4 hrs by freeway 91/2 - however, almost every second after the Bay area was priceless in in time spent. The first day finishes with handshaking and promises of even better tommorrow, with me warning of rain in the late afternoon. It was good indeed to meet with friends and fellow hardcore Blastards - lol -    I got the joy of chaising the race bike - a lot of fun! The first night was spent with dinner with good friends and my girlfriend - a great night! We start at 9am for a great route that that only had the last 16 miles chaising us with rain!  Chimney Rock      Parked in front of Parkfield - the Earthquake capital of America  My girlfriend, the dog and myself infront of their spring fountain -  A National Land Mark - the edge of the North American Plate/San Andreas Fault Border - lol - I chaised James through beautiful twisty scenery - Continued..... The ride is filled with wildlife - dear, turkeys, boar, cattle, sheep, and lamas - lol - the landscape is a green paradise due to the rainy season -   James finds a road closed, however, we made due nicely with an alternative - lol     We have lunch here a nice little Spanish bakery/cafe - very good! More riding!  After a bit more riding we head for Morro Bay where it started to begin the rain we would be riding home in - we raced to the Hotel and later walked to Mo's for great Bar-B-Cue and Beer - a SLO tradition - we spent the night talking about Blasts and the ride - a very good time! It poored that night, and though we made plans for dealing with the weather - we all knew how risky it would be - Dallas took off early to try and beat the brunt of what was comming, James and Eric Took off at 9 to the full downpoor, I would follow an hour latter to the same.  I road almost five hours with frequent stops - 260 miles of rain not stopping till I was in San Francisco proper - ironic - my bike had seen a world of mud and my girlfriend had thought I was going to get killed twice - lol - still I made it home in good time to clean both bikes and enjoy a nice warm evening with my girlfriend. The Spanish cafe was good for those who ordered Mexican food. I ordered the Gringo burger and paid the price! It took us 7 hours to get home (with the frequent stops) about half that time in the rain. Thankfully the rain held off for the worst part of the trip - Los Angeles traffic. Back at work Tuesday morning I had fond memories of riding twisty hwy 58 in the rain. I'll take that over working anytime! | ||

Indian Valley and Hare canyon around Bradley, Ca were great roads. Bothr were rolling hills, narrow roads with no painted lines, no traffic, and great scenery. Chimney Rock Road and Cypress Mountain Dr were also great If you like wooded, shady roads. It was fun stuff. James | ||
