I am going back. Had a great time, met more "online" folks: Smitty, Newxb9r (rode down with), Blake, Carlos, Cecil, and some others.

American Sport Bike Night dinner with Erik was great. Erik's talk was interesting and much appreciated. He is a very approachable and easy going guy. Lot's of folks at the dinner can attest to that. Rex Chaney did a fantastic job. Everyone ought to know that whole dinner was worked out by Rex. The rest of us just supported him.

My wife absolutely loved the racing and quickly educated herself by reading the program, identifying the racers, listened to the announcer, and now she is absolutely hooked.

She and I rode my bad X1 quite a bit and had a great time. Cannery Row was a scene to behold. We fell into a fish and chips joint, came out and as we walked up the street I saw Amy Holland, editor of "Friction Zone" leaning against a telephone pole and drinking in the sights. She has graced a few American Sport Bike Night meetings with talks about riding and preparation, etc. We all hung out for about 2 hours just watching. Cannery Row is part of the racing/bike scene there, you have to go. Cops were very accomodating to bikes and only let bikes park, even citing one car that was parked on the street.

Already got my room for next year in Salinas.

Did I mention that I got a tone of free stuff? The Laguna vendors and services staff were great....IMHO.

Post your experiences here...

jon, a great time.

wow, all was a trip.

ducati island was cool

the vintage honda racers were cool.

vendors were great.

buell area was great, with water, soda, coffee, chips, candy, free programs, etc.

cannery row is always something to see.

unbelievable to see that many cars, bikes and people, all enthused.

funny to watch the helicopters come in over where the bikes and cars were getting ready to park.....one of the girls on her bike almost was blown over....

saw a kid, must have been two years old following his dad on a pocket bike...his dad was riding one, and the kids was hanging in there following him.

how all of those cars parked on those hills and didn't fall over was something.

great dinner with erik. good food, great friends, and unbelievable sites....erik pulled into the lot and said wow!.....they don't have scenary like this in wisconsin.

sure wish I could of had my bike with me, vrs. the truck...but I had my son with me, and he had a great time.

the corkscrew was unbelievable....you could stand there and when they came down the track you were looking at the tops of their heads, they were leaned over so far.

great comment by nicky.....all he could think of was his mom and dad the last lap...how they had buckets in their house catching water from a bad roof, because spent their money taking the kids to race each weekend...then to take his dad around the track was cool....glad he won!

the hotel was great...free food each morning, the service was great...the manager of the hotel wanted to make sure we were being taken care of each time he saw us.

had a great time........

Had a great time. Met lots of folks from here. Dinner with Erik was cool. He's a real down to earth guy. I will go back!! Thanks to everyone that made my first Laguna event a blast!! Everyone at the Loveshack were great!! There were so many people at this event, it took almost a half hour to get across the Dunlop bridge!! I decided to walk around every time. Would rather walk and check things out than stand there inching along. Plenty to see in the vendor area. The paddock was cool, although you couldn't see much at the GP paddock. Colin stood at his trailer throwing free shirts before the big race on Sunday. It was crazy, all the people trying to get one!! I had fun, and once again, thanks to all. Oh, and if I didn't get a chance to say bye to anyone at the end, sorry, I jumped on the bike and got out of there the second the race was over. No traffic, and got home pretty quick!!

The dinner with Erik was terrific - I got to sit accross from him and he is one hell of a guy! Through the whole evening I felt like Forrest Gump meeting all the famous Buellers - Reg, Rex, Blake, Pammy, Fireman Jim, Eek, etc. - it was just totally cool - the night fog sucked but I'm used to that from SF! Enjoyed a whole weekend of riding! This last weekend was one of the best I've enjoyed! Thank you everyone who made this possible!

This is what I was able to salvage from my crappy camera.

one
This dirt road went on for over twenty miles. Al and I both independently almost wiped out in the dirt. The XB12X field tests were probably executed here.
two
Al is thinking... Got the salt, now where's the tequila?
three
LS is within our radar. Big Sur is ahead of us for the taking. We were able to wick it up to ~90mph on a few stretches along highway 1. Totally amazing.
four
This is the mini Love Shack which was my accomodations for three days. Imagine, waking up to this sight!
five
Imagine waking up to this sight!
six
Smashmouth rocked!
seven
Scott rocking to Smashmouth with an oilcan in hand.

That "LS within our radar" picture was on the Nacimiento goat trail that drops into Route 1 about halfway up 1 between Morro bay and Carmel. That picture doesn't show how that road winds down the cliff...no road lines, about 2 cars wide exactly for most of it, sheer cliff dropoffs, no guard rails, gravel in the corners, 15MPH hairpins, and spectacular views of the Big Sur coastline the whole way down. Spectacular, exhilarating, and terrifying all at once!! You must take that road at least once on the way from So Cal to Laguna Seca.

Scott,

...Cerebral brownout...

That is the beauty of multiple oilcan ingestion events. Similar bad craziness usually engulfs me around the fourteenth hole on a golf course while cranking down Fosters. Once I almost got into an altercation with my buddy, The Terminator, and accused him of putting my ball. It was not a pretty sight as I was not willing to back down. Needless to say, it was pointed out that MY golf ball was conveniently hidden from my view behind MY Foster's oilcan on the green. Oops.

For everyone who missed it, Smashmouth at LS was GREAT! Next time, try the concert while drinking Synthetic Fosters Oil.

Whatup GPBull and Jim?

It was one of the most amazing sights of my life watching "Nazi" Blake and "Comrade" JimA4media cavorting together as the natural friends that they are. It was also proof positive that GPBull and Reindog/Forger are not the same person.

It was reminiscent of a scene from "Ghostbusters":

Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, biblical?
Ray: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor... real Wrath-of-God-type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies.
Venkman: Rivers and seas boiling!
Egon: 40 years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanos.
Winston: The dead rising from the grave!
Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats, living together... mass hysteria!
"Dogs and cats living in harmony"

Next year I will visit the Love Shack more than just for 15 minutes.

I may bring a sacrifice of warm bacon or something.
