Blake just activated the thumbnail option last night, but it has a bug that is preventing it from coming online wholesale for everyone. No secret, just the board using a module to generate the thumbnail pics from your profile pic. That module is not running through all profile pics before crashing for some reason. Smart people are working on the problem. Short of that, I think if you upload a new profile pic, it will take hold as a thumbnail/avatar for you. We'll see how much the bandwidth is affected. I used to think it would be prohibitive, but knowing that most browsers cache files and that the thumbnail pics will remain cached for frequent visitors to the site, I thought we would give it a go. I uploaded a new profile pic that had a thumbnail attached to it. It's cool that it works, but mine doesn't look too hot. I tried to change the profile pic to get a different avatar that looks clearer, but it kept the first one. Oh well. | ||

Try deleting then uploading a new one? We'll be improving the quality setting and size in the near future. | ||

Someone mentioned signatures. Signatures annoy the hell out of me. Anyone is free to post the same tired old signature as part of their posts. Don't think we'll be activating that option though. | ||

Here's the quick easy way to activate, 1. Go to "Edit Profile" & log in. 2. Click on "Additional Personal Information" 3. Scroll down to your picture & click on the Save Changes button. Job Done.  | ||

Is there any possibility of allowing us to use GIF images for our profile/avatar pic? JPEGs do not allow transparency. Can an avatar option be added to the profile page so we can have separate profile and avatar pics? |
