What are your opinions of the Bandit 1200? Is it a capable bike? Too much for newbie?

Thanks

My MSF instructor had one. He was a HEAVY guy, but he put a comfy wide seat on it and rode the p*ss out of it. He'd been cross-country with it, had over 25K miles on it and declared he'd never get rid of it.

As far as inline fours go it's a torque monster.
Extra nice for long trips.
Can be a pig in the twisties if the suspension is left stock.
Nice bike although, I'd recommend the Bandit 600 for a beginner, the 1200 is a bit much for a newbie.

It is an excellent motorcycle. My riding partner has one that is totally "breathed on". It's not the best handling bike but it's good and goes like a scalded dog.

Were it not for his other 8 bikes, he'd be riding it more often.

In addition, the painted frame is killer and he, agt my suggestion, lost the chrome side covers and gauge housings by painting them to match the bike.

Let me know if you need to contact him, he can tell you ANYTHING you need to know about the Bandit 1200.

I rode my ladies Bandit 1200S to work today, top gear roll on from 100kph 62mph is awesome. It would absolutely rip the head off my XB12S

Monster motor, crap suspension, built to a very low price point. Really good going straight ahead at any speed, OK to horrible in corners depending on your speed. Dependable! You can depend on it to start and run every time, and you can also depend on it to rust and look like doo-doo in a couple of years. It's worth just what you pay for it.

IMHO, YMMV.

Great bike but heavy and large for a newbie. Also a monster engine that can get you in trouble early on.
