hey wuts up everyone?

im honestly about to throw my bike off of a cliff. i got the new belt on took it for a ride and the clutch was not disengaging. do you guys possibly think i could have a streched clutch cable or do u guys think i need a whole new clutch

Attempt number 2...
Check for binding in the clutch cable or see if there is enough freeplay in the cable at the adjuster down in front of the engine, if that is all good then use the adjuster inside the primary under the clutch cover. Not sure off the top of my head which way that needs to be adjusted to tighten the clutch pack but I am sure you can figure it out or look it up in the manual before you decide you need a new clutch pack.

Heed the advice above. Adjust the cable...if it's still bad adjust the clutch. A new clutch pack is the last resort!

Your plates and disks may simply be stuck together. Oil sticksion (sp?) If it's been sitting a while, that could happen. Does it feel like it is working? Like when you squeeze the lever, can you feel the clutch action? Try holding in the clutch, put it in fifth gear and pushing the bike back and forth. That might break the plates free.

Couple questions.

1. Did you have a problem with the clutch prior to the belt breaking?

2. Did you replace the belt yourself and in doing so did you disconnect all the clutch bits over on the primary.

If you never had a problem with the clutch before the belt breaking then you should not have one now, unless you took it apart and never adjusted the bits inside the primary cover correctly.

Its not that hard to do, just check the Knowledge Vault under the S1 SERVICE MANUAL. I'd say the ball and ramp setup is not correctly setup. Thats if it was apart.

As a last resort!!!!

Lots of Cliffs in Newfoundland, Please let me know which one so I can put a big air bag beneath your bike.

This happend to a friend once.

Did you tighten that screw that holds the top hat nut that in turn holds the clutch mechinism to the basket?

If so you may have tightened it to the point that the clutch remains open and will not ingadge.
Back it out and twist it till it is lightly tight an give it another 1/4 turn.
then adjust your cable.

yes i tryed to adjust it and everything and the clutch pack that i bought from rivera engineering is almost a brand new clutch pack id say its only 6 months old. and the bike sat most of the time. i use sport trans fluid on the tranny. also ive tryed to break the clutch free and still nothing and ive also tryed to see if maybe there was something stuck in the basket because i took the whole thing out and now im fighting with rivera over it to see if they will send me a new clutch pack or fix that one because i havent had it that long.

Did you replace the diaphram plate when you replaced the clutchpack? I don't recall it being part of the basic packs from Riviera. Had to be bought seperately If you didn't replace that plate, it may have lost its spring which means that the tangs just bedn without releasing pressure on the clutchpack.

Have you cracked the primary cover? It would flex outwards without affecting the clutch disengagement. Saw that on my buddy's after he installed a stiffer clutch spring.

still have original stock parts? perhaps you could compare the height (thickness) of the stock and rivera clutch packs, possibly illuminating some portion of your problem.
