Plus $500 for set up, $500 destination fees, 8.9% sales tax and $100 for license tabs. And, of course, the mandatory extended warrantee will be an extra $800. i ended up buying it...and i think i got a good deal. what do ya'll think? its definitely different compared to my '01 sportster. i've rode about 50 miles so far and i feel like ive been riding a horse. my legs are sore as hell. lol | ||

Hey Moe; Every time I've bought a bike that I really liked, within a short time somebody would come up to me and tell me how I could have saved a bundle if I bought it someplace else. You paid a fair price for a great bike. Enjoy the ride. You're not going to believe how fast you'll be cornering in just a few short weeks; especially after riding a Sportster. (That's not a put down on Sportsters - I like them and own one) Buells have a way of making you a better rider. I tell those folks to go buy it for me and I'll write them a check. More times than not when they tell you their tales they are no more truthful or accurate than the rest of the stuff they feed you. Ignore them, make the best deal you can, RIDE YOUR BUELL and enjoy it. Make it any more complex than getting "a good deal" and you threaten to erode your enjoyment of riding and life. Court

I wound up getting a good deal on my 12R. I had to drive to Mesa to get it, about 3 hrs from me. The same day we purchased a new van. Both dealers attempted to charge me with destination charges. I asked them if they planned on delivering the bike and van to my house in Yuma, if not they could take those charges off, which they did. People could have recieved better deals than me on my bike and van, but we don't care, we enjoy them. Court's right again, as long as you are happy and you enjoy the ride, that's all that matters. | ||

Reminds me of the day I bought a new 1972 Jav AMX. Had people coming up to my and telling me that they could get a better price. The thing was I bought it from my dad , who owned an AMC dealership, and got I it for the price that he payed AMC for it. You do the math. | ||

Jim: Sorry.....wasn't supposed to be a tongue lashing. When someone buys something NEW I just try, regardless of what I think I could or would have bought, to make them feel GOOD about their purchase, not start their new ownership off by telling them what they did wrong. I suppose I am a bit edgy as well during the new model introduction. Anyone associated with HD gets bombarded with the "can you get me....." calls this time of year.  | ||

I owe an apology to you guys. I just got an e-mail and, in rereading my above post, I think I was a bit harsh. My post was directed at no particular person, but, in general, those folks who sometimes seek to undermine the pleasure of a purchase. There are 3 things I seem to have bought an inordinate quantity of, guitars, motorcycles and cars, and have always been amazed at the folks who are quick to point out I paid too much. Frequently I am less concerned, not UNconcerned, but LESS concerned, with price than I am the entirety of the ownership experience. When it comes to guitars, well Mandolin Brothers and Matt Umanov have never advertised "3000% going out of business" discounts, neither has Topeka HD Buell. I have always felt like I got great value be it an RS1200 or the Bluegrass Mandolin I just bought. My comments were more economic theory and I apologize to anyone I offended. Court | ||

When I bought my Blast! in Gladstone, MO, I found out 2 weeks later that I could have saved over $1000 by going to Omaha. My reaction: "Oh well." I have a Blast on my Blast, so I'm not concerned. I'll shop around more, though, when it's time to get an XB12??. | ||

Never fails, no matter what I buy I always find it for less a couple weeks later. I would say that with the current MSRP of an XB12, $11,200 out the door is pretty good. If you financed a portion of it then the difference is only a couple bucks a month and you're riding now, that's priceless. Good luck with your new bike. | ||

I prefer buying from owners that have chosen to sell their bikes after short period of ownership. You avoid sales tax, set-up fee, doc fee and get to enjoy some depreciation. Usually one can get a bike with 2000 to 3000 miles for 80% of sticker. One thing is certain though, these deals have yet to produce a flawless bike for me. There are usually scratches and improperly installed accessories that leave irreparable scars. | ||

Jose, I'm with you--in all my years of motorcycling (and it's been way over 30 years now!) I've never bought a brand-new bike. I prefer to think of those pre-existing flaws as "birthmarks". I inevitably add marks of my own. rt | ||

I agree with Bomber, Whatever you pay for an item be it a motorcycle or something else, that is what it is worth. I have spent much in purchasing my Buell(s). And feel I paid what they were worth every time. That said, you can get an XB12s here in Phoenix for around $9000 BEFORE tax, title, and all that other stuff HD likes to tack on... | ||

COURT! A Mandolin! Awesome. I have often wondered how many of the talented, individualistic people on this site are musicians. Those Chandler prices were pretty low, it shocked me. I drove from Milwaukee to Iowa (not where Dave was working though) because I saved $2000 on my bike. On the way back I stopped at Hal's with the bike on a trailer. The salesman tells me he would have sold me the same bike for the same price and I asked him how come he didn't say that when I asked him his lowest price two weeks ago. He didn't have an answer for that. I believe it is the Dealer's job to get the most he can for a bike and the consumer's job to find the best deal. That is what makes this country great. | ||
