I am home in NC!!! I drove myself home from rehab! Hand controls are cool. I love the twisty roads. I'll be seeing the XB today. Anybody want an XB track bike for $2500? I'm going to see what it needs, but I need a trike w/wheelchair carrier. Will Buell have a trike option in 2005? THANK YOU all for your support thru my injury, I'm doing great. I love my home and MY mountains. I look forward to seeing you all here in September. Anyone know where I can rent a trike w/hand controls?

Ted; that's fantastic news. Must be nice driving a motorized vehicle again, even if it's on 4 wheels.
Keep us posted on what's going on. I was starting to wonder what you were up to.

Ted....call Sauk Prairie H-D/Buell (Sauk City, WI) about a trike. When I was there for the homecoming, I saw a guy on a trike with a wheelchair on the back. I'm sure somebody there knows the guy. They should be able to steer you in the right direction.

Glad to hear you're home!!!!

Ted,

I'm wondering if Erik might have some ideas for a leaning trike?

I'm intrigued with the idea of a design that has the 2 wheels up front. Most traditional trikes pretty much lose motorcycle handling. A front suspension designed similarly to a snowmobile might just work.

Don't mind me I'm just brainstormin' a bit. : )

leaning trike -- there was a sidecar company in the 20s that had a design that allowed leaning . . . . . Flxible (not a typo)

There are a few links to some car-like leaners, and some cool concept vehicles. I'm just wondering if it would be feasible to retrofit a front end to an XB and keep a more bike-like ride.

Different in every sense? : )

Ted

awesome news bro! great to hear you are mobile, and enjoying the mountains!

forget the trike, get some little honey to ride on the back and do all the footwork for ya!

you could even do the shifting yourself, and the rear brake is useless anyway. just rig it up for tank shift with the clutch lever on the shifter. clutch and shift at the same time, then just have the girl know when to put her feet down. i would think a girl could figure that much out....

again, awesome news Ted, still pulling for ya!!

I've always thought that mounting solenoids in such a way that they will switch gears for you would be nice. I would put the buttons to control them on each side of the handle bars. The only thing I haven't worked out yet is the whole getting into neutral thing... It would still be doable though, just shut the bike off with the clutch pulled in. Maybe another system like a cable controlled choke to actuate the kick stand? It may be difficult to operate that with one hand on the clutch so there are logistics involved... Well, and there's the stopping thing too... I'll keep my mind on it though...

In GT racing and Indy cars when the cars pull in for a pit stop the driver presses a button on the steering wheel and four posts pop out the bottom of the car and lift the car a few inches off the ground... I don't know if the system uses air or hydraulic pressure but it doesn't matter, I think electricity is better for this application.

OK, Here's my point...

What about "deployable" training wheels that when you slow to stop you would hit a button on the handle bars that deploys these training wheels. Maybe even a hand operated lever that would lock them in place like you would see on one of those tables where the legs fold under... When you start to slow you push or pull the lever and they are locked into place JUST above the ground. When you stop the bike tilts a little. Once you get back up to speed and are on your own two wheels you push/pull the lever again and you're good to go...

Just a thought.

M1...I think I saw that somewhere in an earlier post (sometime right after Ted's get-off).

Here's some interesting trikes I've found:

Custom GSX-R

Busa Trike

Yamaha Trike

Easyflier,
2 wheels up front, YES!!! I have seen it before. This way I don't have to change the swingarm/oil reservoir. And my front end most likely needs to be replaced anyway...

Henrik,
Check yur e-mail.

John,
Can't wait to hear from you!
