Well maybe just for the next 3 weeks while they have their series on the peckerwoods in Arkansas that are destroying perfectly good Buells for their "customs." Only silver lining may be that they're gonna have a lot of stock frames, body parts, shocks, etc available. It's a crying shame, I tell ya. | ||

Hey M1...did you see their shop? Talk about a shadetree operation...sheesh. Don't get me wrong...there are a lot of great custom builders out there turning out beautiful pieces of rolling art. The thing that got me was the not so subtle reference that Buells were great donors because even sporty's were too pricey to perform their butchering on. | ||

LOL... I didn't hear that but it's good  . I just can't understand the point of taking a perfectly good corner carver and turning it into a rigid frame... Like you said though.•••••• leaves a few more frames for ground up builds to take place. | ||

In all honesty, it was a real pain to see them tear that bike apart. if they had any brains they would set up a storefront to sell all the buell parts. until then, im keeping a sharp eye on ebay. | ||

I saw southernmarine's link for the custom X-1. I want to know how in the he** this "custom shop" gets a 440 pound bike down to 298 pounds with a stock tail, swingarm, PM's, stock rotors etc.. Also, he list his mods- minor- and says he gets 116hp. Sounds like BS. I'll gladly eat crow when I see a dyno and a scale readout with pics. Soundman... | ||

If the bikes been wrecked, got no problem with this. They look ok. But if its a perfectly good Buell, then they should be stopped. But if the bikes been laid down and some parts are toast, why not? | ||

I think that's just a typo. 398 is about right if he's done any weight shaving. 420 is the stock weight right? | ||

Kind of a neat starter button on the one at http://www.redneckengineering.com/MUTANT-REDNECK-BUELL-02.jpg. Looks like the starter solenoid is being pushed directly in by the big button on the end of it? | ||

99x1, that is correct, you do not need an electric starting button, if you push the back of the starter, it will bring the stator into the magnetic field, and turn on its own, no relay required. Pretty cool, and it works. but that button is way too big. A buddy of mine went real low vis...he drilled a 1/4" hole in the end cap of his starter, and slides a 1/4" drive 3" extention in there...keeps it on his key chain. Makes it a hair more difficult to steal your bike if the perp can't find the "start button" | ||

Redneck engineering BLOWS big donkeys. So does 2-Wheel Tuesday for giving them air time on more than one episode. 2-Wheel Tuesday should be about the SPORT of Motorcycling. Making choppers has nothing to do with the SPORT of Motorcycling. If SPEED feels the needs to put on stories like that one they should air them on American Thunderbike where they belong!! I saw the episode and almost ripped the arms off my chair in disgust. But, it was cool to see Tripp Nobles and listen to him talk about his racing career and the V-Rod drag bike. Nothing wrong with what that guy did to his X-1. It's still a Buell and it looks nice. We need to get an e-mail campaign going and let Greg White and the show's producers know that we don't support what redneck engineering is doing and don't appreciate the show legitimizing what they do. Let's see, their rolling chassis price runs quickly up to $7,000, and a running Buell can be had for under $5,000, so for a total of $12,000 you too can have a Redneck chop. I might have to wander down to Hal's bike show this weekend and see what those types of things are "really" selling for. If there's a market then there really is little that can be done about it apart from keeping your own Buell price up and not settling for less. But with the new rubber Sportster the rigid mount Sporties are dropping in price some, so the donor bike options may shift from Buells to XL's very soon. Besides, how many are they really doing this to? Dozens? Or hundreds? Anybody know the sales histories of their chassis kits? | ||
