Our sysadmin was up all night through this morning. What started out as a routine OS service patch turned into a nightmare. The OS kernel patch somehow corrupted the server, so we had to restore from the previous night's backup. Which means we lost a day's worth of posts.

I have copies of most all posts in a special email account that I keep that subscribes to all topics via the email forwarding option, so if anyone needs one, let me know. I can dig it up if you give me some key words in the thread title or post.

Sorry again for the downtime.

We've made adjustments to prevent the same from happening again.

The emails seem to not be coming in, or coming in heavily delayed. I am sure that will straighten out in a bit.

Thanks, Blake, for keeping a handle on the situation. When the .cgi links wouldn't work but the .html pages would, I figured that the server wasn't completely down.

Just glad the site wasn't hacked like twitter was recently.

I'm frankly annoyed.

This could have been far better timed to delete some of my waste of space posts.

I lost one insightful post of six words that will take me at least 15 seconds to restore and yet several moments of the previous day's complete dribble still remain.

Not good enough.

That still doesn't explain that I can't access the first page without refreshing, LOL..

Just pointing out an issue that some others may still be having.

Its not an issue. Your computer had downloaded the bad page when the site was down, and when you clicked on a link to the main page, it pulls it from your already downloaded cache. Pressing refresh forces it to download it from the internet again, and gets you back in business.
