Well its all good news. as I type Ted is drugged up and on his way to Atlanta via ambulance. He was supposed to leave at 7:30 am. So I am assuming with delays he is on his way. we as the motorcycle community have lifted his spirits greatly and given him a hell of a boost. He is gonna need that once in rehab because that is gonna kick him in the butt pretty hard so I am sure he will use this to get him thru. He says they are working on getting him a laptop so he can have internet access and beable to talk with us. it may be a week or 2 but just the same. On a personal note you all have lifted my spirits also. I knew we were a community but I am a skeptic by nature so I have been amazed. It has proven that the internet is more than porn and BS. Altho there is nothing wrong with the porn , don't get me wrong. The Ted fund has reached its intial goal in just one week so that is unbelievable and I spoke with Ted last night and he was trying to thank me, I promply told him to shut the hell up and thank your friends in the motorcycle community, all I did was do what as people living on this earth are supposed to do. So he will end up with writers cramp or carpal tunnel by the time he is done thanking everyone. I will be getting a charity ride put together here at some point and if some of you want to do it on your local levels go ahead, like we need a reason to ride? This will be an ongoing thing for a while as he gets readjusted and back in the world. So if you feel inclined do whatever you can if you want to. Ted's rehab will be intense and long. God willing Ted will walk again, He says he is and thats the only mind that really needs to think this. So we hold out hope. anyway there ya go I will keep you posted on this. heres a big cheers to everyone that has sent emails and donations and said a few prayers for TED. I have spoke to him and seen his face light up. We've done well by him and for a fellow rider. always keep that in your hearts. Thank you again Bubba I am my brothers keeper. PS I spoke with Al at American Sport Bike and I ask what if any he could do. He said this For the next Month all profits from the sale of American Sport Bike T-shirts and Hats will go to the TedK fund. so if you ever wanted a American Sport Bike T-shirt or hat nows the time, it will help Ted out.

Thanks Brian. It isn't much, but if you saw the American Sport Bike balance sheet right now after the new acquisition, you'd understand. It's a pretty cool graphic that you XB-R owners should dig. Go here to purchase a t-shirt: http://www.americansportbike.com/clickcartpro/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?pg=store&sub_pg=prod&ref=390 Or here for a hat: http://www.americansportbike.com/clickcartpro/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?pg=store&sub_pg=prod&ref=351 Hang in there, Ted. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Al and Joanne at American Sport Bike edited by reepicheep on March 17, 2004 edited by reepicheep on March 17, 2004 |

Brian, Thanks for the update. Maybe our goal now should be money to finance a Blast-powered wheelchair for him to use until he's back on his feet! Bryan |

Blake / Admin: Those URLs for American Sport Bike (above) have some user ID/info in them and reference a possible user order (click & see). You may want to edit the links to lose the usr= string. |

Twice now, Blake. We're doing our part. Ted, welcome back! I'll see you in September...Bubba threatened to sit on us if we didn't swing by and say hello! Think of the records we can set with that chair! We'll get a nice aerodynamic fiberglass shell for it and that thing will do 120 with the right gearing easy! edited by darthane on March 17, 2004 |

oh, my freak,n back! This sucks, but thanks for everything ya'll. Will be here in Atlanta for 4-8 weeks for inpatient. I feel like christopher Reeves. But I hope to walk someday. AtleastI will have use of upperbody when it heels. Ride safe out there and wear your gear. Pay the $$$ for the leathers, helmet etc and oh, yeah buy them from Bubba. Maybe get someone to help me fab a T-rex 3-wheeler(Campagna) and ride again after I get back to work. I am very busy during week, but weekend is good for visits, hint,hint...just let me know. I've got a really cute nurse here named Anna who needs a good man, she is 36. I'm trying to get her to check out the sites. More to follow...ouch! |

Hi Ted! Kelly,Matt and everybody up here has been thinking of you. Glad to hear you have access to a laptop, no excuses for not writing back. Shelby and Maddie are very worried about 'Uncle Ted' but I told them that you are stronger than you look (ha ha) and that you are working hard to get back to your 'normal?'self. I hope that you have plenty of room to hang pictures,Maddy has been drawing constantly. Shelby just wants to know why you haven't delivered the pony yet. Hopefully I will be able to get down to see you in a few weeks, Kelly is ready to drop the baby in a couple of weeks so they wont be going anywhere for awhile. Keep your spirits up, keep working hard and know that we are thinking of you...Kim

Ted- About 30 years ago my dad suffered a stroke. He couldn't talk. He couldn't move. The doctors told my mom to pack her things and make herself a new life. A few days / weeks passed. My dad was able to speak. Beyond that his condition wasn't improving much. The doctors said he'd be LUCKY to wind up in a wheelchair. My dad was ready to accept this. My mom, however, would / could not accept this. Every day she got my dad out of his hospital bed and helped him get as close as he could to walking. As the weeks passed, my dad could indeed walk! At the peak of his post stroke physical capabilities he walked for many years without so much as a walking stick or leg brace. Modern medical equipment has shown that more than 50% of my dad's brain is supposedly "inactive" - a euphemism for dead. The doctors who didn't know that scan belonged to the guy lying in bed making jokes couldn't believe it was the same guy! They surmised that his brain did a fair amount of re-wiring to deal with parts no longer hooked in... I don't know how much of his health is attributable to my mom's efforts. However, the one thing that's clear is that medicine isn't always right - it's a highly imperfect art. I don't know you but I certainly hope that you're able to allow your body to regain as much of its prior capability as it can - and maybe even convince it that it can do more yet. -Saro |
