Where does one start when they need to climb out of a deep hole they've dug them self into?

For such a long time now I've felt like I've been running in the wrong direction. It seems to me it's this change of direction that's got me in the hot water. I'm not looking for or making excuses either, simply explaining what I feel has occurred that's lead me to a pile of shit place that seems to stir conflict with others. I can't help it and that's it in a nut shell. I am that person whether virtual or not. The difference is here, many opposing comments are seen, and responded to, as flaming. If we were sat around a table saying the same stuff, our expressions and actions would tell another part of the story. But we are not sat around a table so from time to time it is inevitable that we will argue, sometimes more than argue. That is the nature of the BadWeB beast. The law of averages says we will fall out from time to time. When we do it will most not be for often and we will, as has always seemed to happen in the past, kiss and make up. We get there in the end.

I understand why some believe it was necessary to remove those posts yesterday, but for whatever good reason, they were absolutely damn wrong to do so. Those posts represent the core value of what makes this board tick so bloody well. Makes it tick better than any other board I've ever been on. Those posts represent a side of our personality that is not often witnessed on the BadWeB, the real us. What they also represent is our ability to govern ourselves. I don't believe they were removed for any other reason than my posts poked at Court, but that does not matter. What does matter is that it should never happen again. This doesn't mean I'm changing the way I'm going to say things, nor would I expect anyone else to. That just won't happen anyway.

You know, you can't change a person from what they are. I spoke of this whilst commenting on Yates losing his cool. Self control is not something some are good at. Just because you are good at it means others are too. I have a serious problem biting my tongue and I don't see why I should.

When I've offered criticism toward the XB's lack of performance I was hoping for, or Buell not gritting their teeth in premier level racing, I feel I'm entitled to say so and should be without being labeled a jerk or a trouble causer. When I've offered up good information on the board it should not be frowned upon by some if it is in some way making Buell seem inferior. It is not in an effort to troll on my part. The point I always thought was to encourage the lesser into the better. That is what I expect from Buell, to rise up to the challenge. The challenges I want to see them in, and I'd hope you do too.

Anyway, back to that deep hole. I would like to dig myself out of it. I don't want enemies here, I want great friends. I have them, and some I've abused, not always without good reason, but there has to be, and probably was, a better way rather than abusing. I am going to follow the light.

I thank Donn for his wisdom in words for making me think a little harder about others, but in truth, it's not about home runs scored, it's about home runs not scored, and recently I've not scored many.

I owe Chris a huge apology for allowing my big mouth to insult her openly in such an awful personal way. She didn't deserve that. I've offered her my sincere apologies as she had the balls to mail me and point out what a shit I am. She's a woman for gods sake and they're precious around here in this male shit hole. Again Chris, terribly sorry.

I also wish to thank Court for his 'introspection' comment. Why? Because he's right. I'm in need of lots of it. As for Court, he has done a great many things for me that not many will know about. He's shown generosity and kindness that I've never had the chance to repay, not that he expects so, but that's not the point. What I've done instead is insult the man, and often, for no good reason at all other then self satisfaction. I have been very stupid and lost a good friend. If I could have one wish on the BadWeB it would be that Court would forgive me. I know it's not enough but my humble apologies Court.

Somewhere above I mentioned people not being able to change their ways. Something about ones make-up. Whatever - I am going to change. It is my intention to forget the personal insults and I'd like to think I'm capable of posting my opinions without them turning the place into a boxing ring. In short, I'm still the silly bastard that I am and I shall pride myself in being so, but more importantly, I'm going to think very carefully before I hit the post button. I appreciate your friendships, one and all, and thanks.

Hey Rocket, We've never met but I will say that it takes a lot of courage to openly say what you have in your post..my respect there! As to posts being deleted I agree that on a supposedly open forum this should not happen unless there is some sort of rule on this..free speech and all that..

I will add a cryptic comment that may or may not be understood by those who it applies to...

Power corrupts...

Absolute power corrupts absolutely!!!

Rocket... right or wrong... be who you are!!! Those who understand will respect your right to be who you are... even if they disagree with you... they will respect you for being you! Like I have always said... if you don't like the way I look... don't look at me! If you don't like what I say, or my opinion... don't listen to me or ask my opinion. DO NOT try to change me... and DO NOT try to shut me up! BECAUSE... I will not try to change YOU or shut YOU up. We make choices in life... and we must understand and stand strong to the fact that there are rewards and consequences... and as long as we accept both equally... we should not be criticized or judged!

One of my pet peeves is the false hierarchy in life... where some are seen in higher position or better than others... be they connected... rich... popular... blessed... privileged... etc... used to be this... accomplished that... selected for this... elected to that... knows whoever... WHATEVER!!! We are all equal... no one is better than anyone else... just different... an individual. As much as I think Erik has contributed to all of us... he is a person just like the guy who works at Burgerking saving every penny to buy his old tuber. We are... or should be equal... and treated with the respect that we all expect from others. No one is higher than another... or lower than others for whatever reason. I am sure I have offended someone using Erik as an example... but I could have said Court, Blake, Brian, Sam, Chris, Frank, George, Sally, or the names of every badwebber on this venue. If you don't like someone's opinion... discontinue the conversation!!! It is that simple... If a thread is started... and those who strongly disagree refrain from contributing to any bickering... the thread will soon fade into the archives. We should tolerate people being different... If there is one thing I hate is extremism. Be it in the case of subject matter I agree with... or an opposing position. Closed minds and "those with absolute power" are those I feel sorry for... as they have limited there contact with the world... and are there own worst enemies. They do more damage to themselves than they ever will to others!

At my office they open all incoming mail. The reason is "we are inspecting to be sure there is not anthrax or other harmful substances introduced into the office." GIVE ME A FRIGGING BREAK... if that were the case... it would not be done by the administrative supervisor in her office, it would be done by a security person in a controlled environment. I would respect the action more if they just said... "you have NO expectation of privacy... and we will open all incoming mail". PLEASE DO NOT INSULT THE INTELLIGENCE OF OTHERS!!

I was once censored on this venue for poor judgment and inappropriately using the anonymous posting. I was wrong... and was trying to interject humor for a good reason... at least in my opinion. How was that handled... my posting was edited with a nastygram. The self appointed sheriffs on the badweb started in on me just as if they had the power to dictate my actions. I asked why it could not have been handled with an email warning me of the strict usage of anonymous postings... and a chastising in that manner... then if I did not heed the warning a public warning or loss of privileges. The answer was it takes too much time to do it via email. How long could it take to click on my screen name... click on my email address in my profile and send the exact same message... maybe an additional 20 seconds??? SAY WHAT IT IS... I wanted to post this for all to see as an example of what I do not want on this board. I would have gotten more out of the chastising... and respected the contact more if that would have been done. I felt like I was treated like I was too stupid to understand the situation. I may clown around... I may act like a moron... but I will match IQ scores with anyone on this board or any other venue... Please do not judge my intelligence by my choice to act like a moron in my attempt to de-stress from a VERY high stress job!!! There is an art to communication... some may not have the skill level... and some feel like they have to talk down to get their point across, or to feel better about themselves by "putting others in their place".

Forgive me for my rant... I will qualify my statement with the fact I am smoked with my supervisor for being one who abuses power and treats people like they are too stupid to realize they are being punished for things by how they are assigned tasks unfairly, a major case of PMS (parked motorcycle syndrome)... and several ounces of Vanilla Vodka reducing my restraint in what I say! AND... I will accept any consequences of candidly voicing my thoughts and opinions!!!!!

We are all adults... let's all be treated that way... and treat others EXACTLY how we would want to be treated. We should accept the rewards and the consequences for our actions... and not be disrespected or disrespect others. PERIOD!!!!!

I am sure somehow I will be paid for my candidness!

OK... let me have it!!!

Just a note here - while I personally feel you can all say whatever the hell you want, this is NOT like standing on a streetcorner or in your living room and as such you do NOT have the right to say whatever you want.

BadWeb is Blake's baby - we're all here because he and the sponsors want to provide us with a forum for Buells and related topics, and as such we are bound by his rules. It's a private forum (as private as an internet site can be) and thus free speech does not apply. If you can live with that, great, if not, find a forum where there's no such restrictions.

Personally I think Blake is pretty damned good about letting us have free reign. It's generally rare that he or other moderators feel they have to step in.

I thank you for that Dennis but just to clarify, my post wasn't meant to be about my views on BadWeB politics. More, it was all about my attitude, and I have been wrong. I am not going to change as a person, I'm going to address the way the person needs to change, in an effort to regain some good friends I've lost. I'm sick of being in the shit and I've certainly let that rub off on some.

Now if you please, let's not turn this thread into opinions on how BadWeB should be run. I can assure you the BadWeB custodians spend loads more time improving the way the site works rather than policing our behaviour.

We're all adults on here (relatively speaking) & I would like to think responsible for what we do & say, Rocket has done that consistently & made no bones about it, it takes a lot of guts to stand up & admit your own faults, & I hope those concerned will equally have the guts to accept his apologies & put all this behind them.
Nobody's perfect after all.
As a relative newcomer to Badweb, I've not the seen it's developement from being Blakes baby, but it seems to me to have grown up now. I agree that some control has to be excercised now & again to put the train back on the rails but it needs to be as light a touch as possible.
We all believe in free speech, hell it's even enshrined in the US constitution so let's not go overboard about it being private.
Oh & one last thing, Bryan I've got a laptop so I CAN do it on a street corner or my living room or even in bed!

Sorry, Rocket, I wasn't trying to hijack the thread - just pointing out that basically this is a club owned by Blake, and just like a nightclub, if you break the rules out you go.

I do agree with the others though - kudos to you for stepping up. That whole admitting is the first step thing and all. Me? I'm perfect just the way I am, so all you fuckers can just stuff it! BWAHAHAHAHAAAA!

I was wondering what came over you Rocket!!!I been reading the posts lately .
It takes a good person to apologize and do it so sincerely .
I wish there were more on this board that could be that way after poking at other badwebers (some of us are women and that should not make a difference ). Sometimes its better just to bite your tongue or "don't post what you feel"

Just when you think EVERYTHING is going to hell in a hand basket, someone steps up and tee's one out of the ball park.

It took some pretty big brass ones to post your note.
I'm not sure if I could do it at all let alone as sincerely as you just did.

So, we going to see your mug over here anytime soon?

Nice post my friend..

Well guys, in truth I'm reading with tears in my eyes because I'm staggered by how forgiving those I've deeply offended have been.

Only I know where I've gone wrong, and it's not the first time I'm sure, nor the last, but whatever happens in the future I'll keep your best interests in my sight.

I've spoken with Court just a short while ago, and his commitment to the Buell thing is more than I ever could have imagined. The magnitude of his Buell related efforts are staggering, and to think I've wronged him. I'm so very glad I called him. He is a good man. Something I've known for a long time too. I'm ashamed of myself.
