What would happen if the American people joined together and refused to pay our taxes in April? Just a thought? |

They'd have to build more prisons to hold us all. Since everyone would be in jail, some of the prisoners would have to be guards. Seems a bit daft, me having to guard him when he's a guard. --Monty Python |

Guess they'd just start giving out IOUs like California is. :P Seriously though, wonder what would happen? It would be true civil disobedience. |

Well . . . .frankly that's "Kinda" happening . . . tax revenues to the federal government are DOWN 18% . . . . so what did they do . . . INCREASED SPENDING 400%. Try working 4 days instead of 5 . . . lower YOUR income by 18% . . . . then go by (roughly the equivalent) about 87 Ferrari's on your credit card. There . . . . you've now passed CIVICS 101 and understand how Obama is running your government. Folks in Chicago accepted this . . . it's not going to play long in the national theatre. |

They'd have to find stimulus money to build eco-friendly prisons. |

Seriously, they would make examples out of a certain percentage. The AM radio airwaves in my area used to be littered with tax protesters urging anyone who would listen not to pay taxes. They all ended up in jail. |

That's because incitement is a crime. From an outsiders point of view, & I know I'm not alone here, you guys have a f*****d up system. The problem you now have is that nobody can agree on a way to fix it, so it just gets worse. Do you wonder that people don't want the American model imposed on them when they see the crap that goes on. I'm not anti-American, far from it, by & large you're lovely people, but as a nation you don't make friends very easily. |

What would happen if the American people joined together and refused to pay our taxes in April? You would wake up in a few hours and realize it was just a dream. We lack the collective courage and resolve to pull this off and those in power actively work to distract us from unity with race and class baiting. Really sad sh!t... |

The good news is that more people will be unemployed wards of the state. The tax base will shrink resulting in a collapse of the tax revenues top to bottom. Then we will all be equal. Equally screwed. |

Seriously though, wonder what would happen? It would be true civil disobedience. No, civil disobedience is when the cause is ideological in nature. When it it involves cash they call it insurection and start shooting. |

The problem you now have is that nobody can agree on a way to fix it, so it just gets worse. The problem isn't that nobody can agree on the way to fix it... There is a perfectly good fix (Fair Tax)... The problem is with the Politicians who know that their power rests comfortably on the current tax system. That is where they get their power to persuade, their power to pit one group against the other.} |
