Hmmm... Hey Cityslicker... Geforce got me thinking. Buell is a company of 200 people. What if dropping the blast freed some to go build the dirt bike? |

The advertising has 'struck a nerve' as intended, which certainly means it is effective. I have not seen this place so active in quite a while, but I just have one question, if I may be so bold as to pose it... What is more important...Getting a new customer on board, or the loss of a loyal one? To get a new customer, one must offer something appealing that will stand out, then they compare and make a decision to go with you, or elsewhere. To lose a loyal one, you must do something they consider wrong beyond repair. Just a thought? |

What is more important...Getting a new customer on board, or the loss of a loyal one? IMHO Neither is more important. They are both of equal importance. You simply can't grow a company without getting new customers. Equally, a business needs the loyal customer. As Buell well knows, no one sells more bikes than a satisfied customer. I'd be willing to bet the 3%ers have had a hand in selling more bikes than most employed salespeople. To lose a loyal one, you must do something they consider wrong beyond repair. To some, Harley-Davidson has been hard at work to pull this off. Yet another reason for Buell to be sold outside of a Harley-Davidson dealership. My 2¢ Just a thought? We think alike. |

How would a marketing plan cause Buell to lose "loyal" customers? The new marketing is to get the attention of people who have never looked twice at Buell. I guess if you are scared away by the new marketing approach you could get a liter bike, a skulldana, and some gas station wraparounds. |

WTF!!!!! i have been waiting for the CR to come in white and they put a black tail on it! it just looks stupid. if i bought one i would insist that they order a white tail and install it for free before i bought the bike. and by the way, the CR clubman bars ARE the exact position as the R. which i always thought is stupid and was my main deterant. when i sat on the one with the high bars, it just felt perfect. so now i dont have to spend more money just to be comfortable. I WANT A BLAST CUBE TOOOO!!!! |

Cobra, I don't think "scared away" is what most of the Blast owners are feeling right about now. I'm not trying to incite a heated debate, I just have a lot of curiosity about what is happening at the moment. In the same way that an artist is the only one who truly knows what a painting means, the marketing company+Buell are the only ones who truly know what the message they are trying to convey is. We, as the readers, can only interpret it in our own ways. The new marketing approach is to get the attention of new people, but current owners will always be the first to see it, as they are the ones who already have passion for the brand and the bikes they ride. |

Love or hate the new marketing ad campaign, one thing is certain. The ad has created a vacuum and a hunger for something to fill the bottom end of the displacement line-up for Buell. We may not get a bike this year. We may have to wait until next year. Either way, we are looking, watching, and waiting. Hungry to see what Buell is going to do. |

Does the dealer show end today? I wonder if they're gonna roll something out at the end. If so, Zac will be there to report, as those of us on the 1125r board have sent him on a mission to get pics of the new 1125r street fairing. |

Was told by my dealer, who has employees there, that yesterday they had a 3 hour Buell meeting/seminar. didn't get any report on what took place though... |

BS - no one is going to wait a year any more for Erik to get his shit together, he either has the goods, or he has nothing, and in the process will have less. EZ |

Let's say that of the 1,135 bikes that one third were actually sold to buyers rather than RE. That's 379 bikes manufactured and sold. Let's say that the profit for Buell is equal to the profit at the dealer, $750. That's a gross profit of $284,250. Let's say that net of taxes that's about $170,000. Not to say that $170,000 isn't significant nor that Buell wants to lose the traditional Blast buyer, but the collateral damage may be acceptable in the short run until a new super single can be released. If you MUST have a bike this year and it MUST be a single, you can still buy a Blast from a dealership. 2010 even. If you wanted a new, redesigned super single from Buell, join the club. So did I. You'll have to wait like the rest of us. It's a choice you'll have to make. What small displacement singles are available on the market from another manufacturer? |

Harley has two new motorcycle lines now you know. One of them is pretty strong in this segment of the market. |

If my understanding of the situation is correct, they are still making the Blast, they just aren't putting Buell stickers on it anywhere. So people can still have their great single but stickers are sold separately. |

I wanted the super single - like everyone else - probably end up with the Black 9 though, too bad though, Europe is rocking with some cool singles, an American answer would have been cool - I could have really gotten behind it, but I guess the 9 is as close as that happening. I'll own one - it will get the job done. Still it is not the American single. EZ |

Ez, you'll be very happy with the xb9 if or when you pull the trigger. Just don't make the mistake I did and demo an 1125, then you'll be ruined like I am lol. |

"Love or hate the new marketing ad campaign, one thing is certain. The ad has created a vacuum and a hunger for something to fill the bottom end of the displacement line-up for Buell. " Alternate (but probably unlikely) theory - could Buell be thinking of a more hardcore sportsbike for the top end of the lineup? |

Well, for what's it's worth, the Buell tech at the local dealer told us yesterday they were hearing rumors of an 1199RR. I just hope it wasn't Barker's video! |

Last year when the website got updated it included the 1125CR release and the other detail model changes, all at the same time. That was on the tuesday of the dealer meeting I think. When does the dealer show end? "...i have been waiting for the CR to come in white and they put a black tail on it! it just looks stupid. if i bought one i would insist that they order a white tail and install it for free before i bought the bike..." I'd been hoping for a white with blue wheels 1125CR (or 725/825CR ), the white/black CR looks a bit odd/unfinished . Clubman bars are good with me though . |

For perspective, go watch an episode of "superbikes" on speed channel. Ugh. Anything Buell wants to do to distance themselves from that crowd is welcome. |

Damn, i take three days off of Badweb and all i get is "Bold New Graphics?" After reading through all this, i agree with Geforce.. I think Buell needs to take time getting the 1125R and CR RIGHT before they go making any other bike. None of this shit is going to stop me from getting an 1125R soon! |

IMHO and I don't remember any of you asking for it, but here it is anyway. I love mine it has done me proud and will continue to. Wasn't going to buy a new one, but am looking for one for my lady. There seems to be the worlds supply at a good price on eBay and Craig's List. I believe it has not been owning my Blast, S3T, or my ULY that have made me part of this amazing Buell fellowship. I think it all comes from the name sake, Erik it's you, your team and all the bikes they have and will continue to develop including some type of a sporting single. God this is fun and I can't wait to see what's next. Terry - owner, builder, rider of the worlds fastest 650 cc coffee table. LOL |
