Whatever. I'm sick of race relations.

Amen to that! Even the term is childish and smacks of immaturity.

The only sure thing I took away from this story is that tempers and attitudes will always lead to the worst.

You couldn't have paid me to watch it.

...well, okay, maybe you could have, but it would have had to have involved four figures in front of the decimal at the very least.

If you guys think Obama's got some dumb ideas, check out what the Michigan Dems want to put on the ballot. As if this state weren't impaired enough as it is.

I'm glad I don't watch TV. Personal opinion: Cop did fine and exercised much restraint with a racist yelling at him.

Headline on a web site: PRESIDENT SAYS COPS ACTED 'STUPIDLY'
Me: What should we call the intentional malicious destruction of the American economy for unrevealed political objectives? My answer: Stoopid.

I love political threads. Warm regards, your local capitalist tool.

Forget race and color for a moment.

Imagine how indignant Gates would have been if the officers had not done their job and the dude at the door had been a criminal posing as the owner.

OK: now turn on the race reality. It is damned if you do and damned if you don't in this crazy PC culture if you aren't a member of a minority.

I suspect both sides blew it out of proportion.

Obama BLEW it last night. Why was this question even asked since the rest of the "press conference" was obviously controlled?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming, as a key element in Perception Management, keeps the emotional pots stirring on the front of our media's stove while logic is tossed in the dust bin. I'm awaiting the fulfillment of just one, just one campaign promise before 2012. The ethnocentricity fomented by POTUS will likely create open fighting long before then.

Many years ago, in a land far away, my best friend was a chap from Cote d'Ivoire. He said the bane of Africa is tribalism. I said, if we were in America, our racial collective baggage would likely not have made us best friends.

I always watch both MSNBC and FoxNews after these things. Fox did their usually fine job of covering all sides of whatever it was that Obama said. Chris Matthews on hardball was the big surprise, first time I've heard him being dismissive of any Obama performance. When Obama loses the "hardball" support he is beginning to have a real problem. Even Fineman was critical. I sense some sort of a sea change in attitude and I don't think Obama is up for realistic appraisals of his performance. Being bikers we have all become quite good at taking criticism of our every judgement. Obama has had no preparation for not being loved by everyone.

Lets all be especially supportive as he goes through this difficult transition.

Medical is a fee for service item. You get the service done you PAY the fee.

Their big problem with this is that if it is indeed national health care, it has to be tied to citizenship. They are not prepared to tackle that Immigration elephant sitting in the corner.

national health identity cards will be on the way. Without them good luck getting service as a rule abiding tax paying citizen. Now if you are an illegal immigrant, I bet the current system of we wont refuse you service because your sick continues, and the cost shifting that has been going on for decades will finally get somebody's attention.

On the plus side, I have all my licenses still, Bring on National healthcare, with the quagmire it causes, I will make a mint.

Down the road, it is highly probable that future politicians will legislate behavior to reduce medical costs. Such as: YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RIDE A MOTORCYCLE.

By DENISE LAVOIE, Associated Press Writer Denise Lavoie, Associated Press Writer – 43 mins ago
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The white police sergeant criticized by President Barack Obama for arresting black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. in his Massachusetts home is a police academy expert on understanding racial profiling.

Cambridge Sgt. James Crowley has taught a class about racial profiling for five years at the Lowell Police Academy after being hand-picked for the job by former police Commissioner Ronny Watson, who is black, said Academy Director Thomas Fleming.

I do not know all the facts.

I know what I have read in the police report, the story in the Boston paper and heard throughout the day today on the radio.

It **sounds** like the Officer pretty much acted in textbook fashion.

It **sounds** like the Professor was perhaps a bit over sensitive.

Without knowing the experiences and backgrounds of either it's tough for me to move past "it was an unfortunate instance."

I feel quite certain the Officer held no malice, intended to do his job the best he could and that the Professor elevated the situation.

I am quite certain Mr. Obama owes a heartfelt apology to the Officer and perhaps the Professor for casting him as any old "Latino or Black". I think Obama insulted both of them, the Boston PD and Law Enforcement in general.

He is, as I have previously stated, an embarrassment. Keep an eye on Rahm. This type of stuff, people challenging and not being intimidated, has got to have Rahm seething. Obama has proven that the moment he starts to take heat and absent that teleprompter he becomes a stuttering and stammering fool. There's simply something about him when he talks that makes me feel like he thinks he's smarter than all of us and that we'd better take what he says without question or else. I think he's smart. I know lots of smart, and smarter, folks. Personal note: My Uncle, who I spoke about in my speech at Columbia, just got a Silver Snoopy Award. Perhaps one of the smartest guys I, NASA and the Soviet Space Program have ever known

I would like to read the bill. In my "real job" I am responsible for reading contracts, legal, technical and construction documents; it'd be a good day’s work. . lock myself in Butler stacks and go to work.

I'd love to be able to sit in a town hall meeting and know the thing inside and out and play "10 Questions" with a Congressman.

Look . . I don't expect these guys to be perfect, no one is. I do expect them to be responsible and professional.

We need better leaders.

I'm not your guy and if you'd been reading the Topeka Capital-Journal at the right day years ago, after I was a delegate to the Republican Convention, you'd know I’ve already been pushed toward being a candidate. My answer to reporter Mike Hall was pretty clear about just when I intended to run. I'd make a poor candidate, but I know some dandy folks who'd be great ones. My personal favorite who, after serving as Governor simply found the lure of private business more appealing that the BS of politics, is living in Washington and I still wish he'd run.

: )

Good read. http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi ?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:h3200ih.pdf

Got this from another forum, not claiming accuracy:
• Page 22: Mandates audits of all employers that self-insure!
• Page 29: Admission: your health care will be rationed!
• Page 30: A government committee will decide what treatments and benefits you get (and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process)
• Page 42: The "Health Choices Commissioner" will decide health benefits for you. You will have no choice. None.
• Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services.
• Page 58: Every person will be issued a National ID Healthcard.
• Page 59: The federal government will have direct, real-time access to all individual bank accounts for electronic funds transfer.
• Page 65: Taxpayers will subsidize all union retiree and community organizer health plans (read: SEIU, UAW and ACORN)
• Page 72: All private healthcare plans must conform to government rules to participate in a Healthcare Exchange.
• Page 84: All private healthcare plans must participate in the Healthcare Exchange (i.e., total government control of private plans)
• Page 91: Government mandates linguistic infrastructure for services; translation: illegal aliens
• Page 95: The Government will pay ACORN and Americorps to sign up individuals for Government-run Health Care plan.
• Page 102: Those eligible for Medicaid will be automatically enrolled: you have no choice in the matter.
• Page 124: No company can sue the government for price-fixing. No "judicial review" is permitted against the government monopoly. Put simply, private insurers will be crushed.
• Page 127: The AMA sold doctors out: the government will set wages.
• Page 145: An employer MUST auto-enroll employees into the government-run public plan. No alternatives.
• Page 126: Employers MUST pay healthcare bills for part-time employees AND their families.
• Page 149: Any employer with a payroll of $400K or more, who does not offer the public option, pays an 8% tax on payroll
• Page 150: Any employer with a payroll of $250K-400K or more, who does not offer the public option, pays a 2 to 6% tax on payroll
• Page 167: Any individual who doesnt' have acceptable healthcare (according to the government) will be taxed 2.5% of income.
• Page 170: Any NON-RESIDENT alien is exempt from individual taxes (Americans will pay for them).
• Page 195: Officers and employees of Government Healthcare Bureaucracy will have access to ALL American financial and personal records.
• Page 203: "The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as tax." Yes, it really says that.
• Page 239: Bill will reduce physician services for Medicaid. Seniors and the poor most affected."
• Page 241: Doctors: no matter what speciality you have, you'll all be paid the same (thanks, AMA!)
• Page 253: Government sets value of doctors' time, their professional judgment, etc.
• Page 265: Government mandates and controls productivity for private healthcare industries.
• Page 268: Government regulates rental and purchase of power-driven wheelchairs.
• Page 272: Cancer patients: welcome to the wonderful world of rationing!
• Page 280: Hospitals will be penalized for what the government deems preventable re-admissions.
• Page 298: Doctors: if you treat a patient during an initial admission that results in a readmission, you will be penalized by the government.
• Page 317: Doctors: you are now prohibited for owning and investing in healthcare companies!
• Page 318: Prohibition on hospital expansion. Hospitals cannot expand without government approval.
• Page 321: Hospital expansion hinges on "community" input: in other words, yet another payoff for ACORN.
• Page 335: Government mandates establishment of outcome-based measures: i.e., rationing.
• Page 341: Government has authority to disqualify Medicare Advantage Plans, HMOs, etc.
• Page 354: Government will restrict enrollment of SPECIAL NEEDS individuals.
• Page 379: More bureaucracy: Telehealth Advisory Committee (healthcare by phone).
• Page 425: More bureaucracy: Advance Care Planning Consult: Senior Citizens, assisted suicide, euthanasia?
• Page 425: Government will instruct and consult regarding living wills, durable powers of attorney, etc. Mandatory. Appears to lock in estate taxes ahead of time.
• Page 425: Goverment provides approved list of end-of-life resources, guiding you in death.
• Page 427: Government mandates program that orders end-of-life treatment; government dictates how your life ends.
• Page 429: Advance Care Planning Consult will be used to dictate treatment as patient's health deteriorates. This can include an ORDER for end-of-life plans. An ORDER from the GOVERNMENT.
• Page 430: Government will decide what level of treatments you may have at end-of-life.
• Page 469: Community-based Home Medical Services: more payoffs for ACORN.
• Page 472: Payments to Community-based organizations: more payoffs for ACORN.
• Page 489: Government will cover marriage and family therapy. Government intervenes in your marriage.
• Page 494: Government will cover mental health services: defining, creating and rationing those services.

Interesting summary . . .

quote:

US Senate to miss healthcare August deadline - 1 hour ago

»Pelosi confident healthcare bill on schedule ύ - Reuters - 528 related articles

»Steny Hoyer predicts healthcare bill next week: What if he's right? ύ - Los Angeles Times - 210 related articles »

Pelosi would be better off trying to climb a greased mirror. This thing is spinning wildly out of control. She'd do almost ANYTHING to get this vote before Congressmen have to go home and talk to their constituents.

I called the Cambridge PD and told them if the police report is accurate that I and probably most southern Ohians stood behind them and the president was way out of line.

The president is not stupid but his racial political grooming got in the way and showed itself last night. I still cant believe he made this mistake. To admit he does not know the facts but then call the whole Cambridge PD stupid?

Here is some advice to everyone regardless of color: do not get $hitty and belligerent with police officers. A chip on the shoulder is a disaster waiting to happen.

As for the health care presentation by the president it sounded as if he was over his head and did not know the specifics. He gave plenty of analogies that made sense but did not address most tax payers concerns.

Lets assume alot of the naysayers of this administrations health care plan are right wing people fudging the facts and sensationalizing details of the bill. Ask yourself this:

Whats the governments track record with:

medicare

social security

"stimulus" money

health care for veterans

federal national mortgage association

Feel free to add to this list.

You got that right . . . The Chinese pretty much own the USA at the moment.

Be sure . . . to DO SOMETHING on this health care thing. Be sure to write your congressman/woman and let them know. It takes only seconds.
