Variable Inline Enrichment Device.

99-Later Fuel Injected Buells.

This unit is a simple upgrade designed to let the engine, equipped with an OEM oxygen sensor, run at a richer air/fuel ratio in closed loop mode ranging from 14.3:1 to 13.7:1.

Plug and Play. Of course plugging is the only chore here.

I alluded to this product on another thread months ago and finally it is here.

The technology is well tested but I have yet to use one on a Buell.

I will be using a volunteer to test one unit. The test monkey will have to install and adjust the unit on his own as we are looking for feedback on ease of use. We will be using our dyno here so it needs to be a local Buell rider(or someone who is willing to get local).

An XB is what we are looking for.

The unit will be less than $90. for sure and may be under $80. This will be for a single unit. Bikes that have 2 sensors, would require 2 ViED's.

We are using the dyno only to show the difference in air/fuel and general performance for test purposes. It will not be necessary for using the product.

Hey Pam, I'm in Palm Harbor. I'd be willing to test it on my 2006 Ulysses. Does it matter that I have a race ecm?

Well, for this test , we would prefer a stock ECM. What issues, if any, are you having with your bike with the race ecm?

No issues. When I first installed it I had it dyno'd at Kinetic in Hudson. The guy said it was lean off idle and when cruising at low RPM. Wouldn't mind having something that would richen it up. Might even make it run a little cooler.

That's what this unit does. I'll have to keep this in mind.

Let me know. Even if you don't use me as the test case. I would be interested in purchasing, if it would help.

That would be good for my Uly.
I wonder if a pair would work on a stock 1125 or is it too "smart or complicated".
You got my interest here.

I'll have to buy one to test it.
I don't mind.

it's not so much the miles as it is the traffic getting over that way from where i'm at. sometimes worse than atlanta traffic.

Not complicated at all. It takes 1 for each O2 sensor. We have been using them on Sportsters for a while now and of course the TC's.

The units for the Buells are variable to make sure users can make useful changes rather than settling for close enough.

I am excited to see if they do the job as I expect.

It'll be good.

Well whomever we choose will have a baseline run done here at the shop, do their own installation, ride the bike in all normal conditions and report back for a follow up dyno run. Feedback on ease of use and differences, if any, that were noticed.

The XB has only one 02 sensor.
Is this an issue?

No, not at all. The ViED is only one unit. For the 1125, one would have to purchase 2 units. We are still working on the price and packaging.

This might even work on the older Buells. We are not testing those for obvious reasons, but I don't see why it wouldn't work, if the connectors are the same.

I'd be really curious to see what this does to horsepower. I have some suspicions that it could hurt it, but I'll wait for the testing to see.

Trust me on this one Turk.
Wes and Pammy ain't in the Snake Oil business.
CycleRama have been building, hot rodding, Land Speed Racing, for probably longer than you've been riding.
I'm sure once this is ready for prime time, there'll be plenty of dyno sheets to see what's what.
If it don't work, I'll bet Wes and Pammy won't sell it.
Check out their website.

How does it only enrich in closed loop without enriching the whole fuel map?

Does it enrich both the front and rear maps?

This device alters the information from the O2 sensor to the ECM. That's all. With this one we have a bit of variation as to how much or how little difference can be made. Just a little plug and play to make the ride smoother in closed loop. We do suspect that there may be a little "bleed over" which is why we would like to try it on a willing victim, er, uh, I mean subject. But as I said, it is variable to a degree so we can improve one area without undesirable side effects in another.

When I say "we can improve..." I mean the end user can improve. The whole point of this project is to enable the bike owner to alleviate their own (small) issues without having to rely on someone else.

Pammy,
Will this, once it's debugged, be of use without a dyno?
Will this help with the pre-ignition knock during hot weather?

No disrespect intended, but this isn't one of those cheap ass resistors that you can buy all over Ebay is it? Sounds very much like those bogus "performance chips" that trick the ECM into thinking it's running leaner than it is. Those pieces literally cost pennies from an electronics store.

Generally, how does new product's action differ from tweaking one or two options available via ECMSpy?

With 'spy, looking at XB12 '06 stock usa ecm:
TAB = ECM-Config
Oxygen Sensor (voltage variables)
rich, 0.56 V
midpoint, 0.49 V
lean, 0.41 V
Activate (timing variables)
min RPM for 02 activate, 600
min TP for 02 activate, 0
Time to activate 02 (1/10's), 20
Time to deactivate 02 (1/20's), 20
