Most here enjoy debating with those of differing viewpoints. Even viewpoints of which I share NO commonalities are still interesting. There is a difference, though, in having a viewpoint that others do not share and being a jerk. Old_man, you aren't even arguing a point any more. I can only recognize "jerky" behavior here. Considering BW is full of unfair, unjust, hateful, bigoted, racists for whom you have so little respect and for whom you have nothing but enmity, YOU need to decide how you will proceed here. I have NO problem debating issues with you. I REALLY like debating issues. Others do as well. I don't believe that there has been a topic in recent history in which you have been able to civilly advocate for your point of view without personally attacking others. When YOU get personal, others retaliate provoking you to claim that you are being unjustly persecuted. I have defended a significant number of people here with differing views. I have defended Rocketsprink and Bill and Frankfast and others. Rarely do I agree with their positions, but they debate the issues as men. I respect them for that. Liberal thinkers, not at all. I'll skip the rant where I blame Rush for using the word "liberal" where he means socialist/progressive. It's not really all his fault, since the Communist/neocom folk did it first, stealing the identity of a fine, proud social liberal movement to hide their evil nature. ( about 100 years ago... see Woodrow Wilson for previous unconstitutional power grabs ) You see, no one would vote for someone whose goal in life is to take from the rich, then the poor, & keep it. Hard to get elected if you are honest about your contempt for the Constitution, and Capitalist Freedoms. So, they stole the name, and the rest is history. I'm a Liberal, old school. I support the freeing of slaves, ( as did Bush ) I support womens rights. ( with all the warts. If you do not wish to be property, ( I don't ) then you must take the bad with the good. The freedom to succeed is also the freedom to fail.) Does this mean I support women in combat? Yes. It grates on my religion that calls for the warrior to protect the weak. But my religion also allows for female warriors, so there I stand. I also stand for the utter annihilation of those who would rape ANY women, prisoner or civilian. I would have ordered the total destruction of the armies & person of Milošević. Any Allied POW raped would result in massive escalation. Any Prisoners of ours, so treated, the public hanging or crucifixion of the offending U.S. troop. Does that make me Liberal, or Conservative? Although I have argued with the keepers of this site on political matters...(Because I'm not a conservative...I'm an old school Liberal so we have differences) I seldom get ad hominem attacks on my character from the keepers of this asylum. I also think Ann Coulter is cute. I bet she spanks. | ||

Interesting that you should bring up Ann Coulter. My son, who produces audio books for Simon and Schuster, did one of her books recently. Travis is a self proclaimed liberal but had this to say about Ms. Coulter; "Outside of the sound booth she is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. But the minute you put a microphone in front of her she sounds like she wants to fillet babies." Travis has produced many political books for people on both sides, including one with Jimmy Carter. The most interesting thing he said about them was that, even though he was more in agreement with the liberals, he thought the conservatives were the nicest people and the most pleasant to be around. I asked him why he thought that was. After a long pause to think about it he said "I'll have to get back to you on that." He will soon be doing a book with Karl Rove. I'm certainly going to quiz him about that book and the man himself. G | ||

seriously, i go get some sleep and this thread jumps 2 pages on me, and it got ugly. i had to go read the first page again because i forgot what the topic was about. i agree that the angry people stop posting and go ride, especially for me! cause if i could ride i wouldn't be reading this right now. That was just worth repeating, and it's why this MOTORCYCLE forum is one of the only places I ever discuss politics. The fact that most threads, even heated debates on politics get hijacked and become comedy side-shows is a reminder that MOST people here don't take the debates all that seriously in the grand scheme of things.
