Anyone who says the tubers didn't have the heat issues of the XB never got their right leg cooked to a crisp by the rear exhaust header of a tuber... Later models alleviated this issue by routing the header INSIDE the frame, and putting heat shields in place, but when you got stuck in traffic your right thigh STILL got roasted. |

I don't get it. I live in Texas, and ride throughout the year including hot Summer days. I've never had anything "roasted" by any of my Buells, including the stock 1997 Cyclone. Have I felt a little heat given the right conditions? Sure, but nothing a slight adjustment to my riding position didn't prevent from escalating to a roasting scenario. It's a motorcycle! There's an engine between your legs! HTFU! |

Haven't noticed any severe heat on the Uly yet either. HTFU! |

HTFU! +1 Blake! Actually, I'm thinking of getting 'HTFU' as a custom plate for my Uly--was my wife's idea, believe it or not--tho i'm not sure if I could get it past the DMV. Then again, 'MetheD' might not fly either. Anyway, the only time I've even noted the heat is on long rides in rainy weather, when it's a welcome 'FEATURE'.

+2 for the HTFU I ride a 97 cyclone and given the right situation it will try and roast my leg, i just move the leg out in traffic and its ok. |

Air cooled helicon, no pods. Along the lines of how Duc has an air cooled version of their twin. +1 Smaller cc to upgrade the 9's as posted earlier. |

I had a lack of heat issue with my XB. I sure hope they fix that. |

"Air cooled helicon, no pods." There's no way in "H.E. double tooth picks" Buell is gonna have a non-HD aircooled. Ain't happening. |

The heat issue with the Uly (as noted in Cyclone8U's excellent post in BB&D regarding his Maine to SC trip) is that much of the engine's heat is directed via the fan right at the underside of the seat. If you compare the design of the XB-R, XB-S, and XB12X, the Uly seems worse in this regard than the other XB's. It's not bad except under two conditions (1) bumper-to-bumper traffic in hot weather (2) extended high speed rides in hot weather. The whole freaking seat gets hot, REALLY hot under these conditions. The 06 tall seat was thick enough where this probably wasn't a problem but this is a real issue for the 07-up standard seat. The frame heat is pretty easy to deal with: move your butt back on the seat, move your leg away from the frame, and/or apply foil faced insulation to the inside of the frame. The seat can be helped similarly with foil or Special Ops blankets but what's really needed is a redesign of the underseat area to direct the hot air away from the seat, ECU, and battery. Hard for the owner to do; relatively simple to do for a year model update at the factory. I think Buell will make some efforts to improve it given the hints dropped at Homecoming. |

Somehow this rumor seems to have escaped notice (previously posted on the Rooster board): http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/3/140/1/Motorcycle-B log-Post/Harley-Davidson-Dirt-Bike-Rumors.aspx |

I hate this time of year, its like fish and cut bait... do I buy a bike NOW that will do what I want, but isnt brand loyal and hope they dont build it, and that budget is gone when it does come, Or do I wait, miss a cheap thrasher that needs abuse... and hope that they dont miss it like last time. (I am still pizzed at the AMA, they will not be getting any of my renewal money or support) |

Ok, say for arguments sake Buell does switch to a non-HD sourced air-cooled motor. What's the point of that? cost? |

Just out of curiosity.. have any 03+ EVER come from the factory with ceramic coated headers? I heard something at the factory that caught my attention, but if Buell has been ceramic coating their exhaust systems already, then it's nothing |

"Ok, say for arguments sake Buell does switch to a non-HD sourced air-cooled motor. What's the point of that? cost?" That would be like Honda going to Yamaha for a motor. It would have to be cost. HD is all about the Bean Counters these days. |

For what it's worth (and I realize it's not much), I heard from what I consider a reliable source that the Helicon engine costs Buell significantly LESS than the air-cooled, HD-produced XB engine. If that's true, it makes perfect sense that someone else might eventually produce air-cooled engines for Buell. |

The smurfs were alive at the time the color was extracted. "I have no recollection" of what happened to them after that. |
