The Ulysses is too well matched against its main adventure touring competition (e.g. the 1200GS, and the V-Strom) with its air cooled motor. There isn't a good business reason for a rotax Uly.

I hope to see Buell branch out into the sport touring market, though, with an 1125ST. It would compete with street-only bikes like the Concours 14 and the FJR.

I just had to put my tuber away for the summer. If the blast and the nine and the twelve were all season bikes, it would be a plus.

I think we'll still see aircooled bikes, but not with an XB frame.

Now, that makes more sense than no air cooled

Actually, I would put money on an air-cooled version of the 1125R... basically, an XB with the new 1125 frame and brake system. The XB engine is pretty darn popular to just can.

I heard they're going to announce those BOLD NEW GRAPHICS this year at HC. Henry Duga will sport a leotard for each color combination.

They still have the XBRR 1320cc castings. Where's My XB13X! Maybe dual throttle- bodies for the fuel injection, also from the XBRR. Even detuned and EPA legal it should make 120 HP.

The XB12 line already utilizes the ZTL2 brake system, except the Uly and 9's which use a 6 piston caliper.

I've ridden air cooled Buells in temps ranging from 3°F to 106°. I think that pretty much covers "All Season"
It would be a mistake to get rid of the pushrod motor. I think it's far superior to the Helicon in the Uly and in the Lightning. It doesn't make as much Horsepower, but it feels immensely better. If I want more horsepower, I can always buy a Hayabusa. If I want a motorcycle that feels better that my XT, I don't know where to find one.

Besides, you have to rev the Helicon to get it to go anywhere - not exactly user friendly for a semi- off road bike.

The Helicon can ALWAYS be retuned for more bottom end/less top end. Moving the powerband around should be child's play for Buell's engineers.

I'm betting Bold New Graphics! 08 had an engine redisign, new cam cover, oil pump and self adjusting TPS, we gotta get some miles on the new bits before we move away from the air burners.

That is my educated guess, what do I win? Two tickets to an Elton John concert?

While I don't exactly agree with the powerband comment, I DO agree that the Helicon engine, in ANY state of tune, would be ill suited for a Ulysses-class motorcycle. The XB engine is much better suited for that bike.

Why don't they just punch the Ulysses motor out for more power? It's a bigger bike than the rest of the line of motorcycles. Does anyone really care if it's 1203 or not? Why not 1300 or for that matter 1500?

I think they need a full fairing kit for the 1125R. I know a lot of people like the bike as is but a lot of other potential buyers don't. Looks are a big hang up for people that could be spending their money on Buell. If they want to sell more 1125R's than owners need the option of a full fairing.

I still see the air cooled motors being around of a long time!

The blast needs an update!

Why doesn't the 1125CR have an "S" tail?

I'll think of more stuff later

Because then it would be an 1125S and not an 1125CR. Plus it would look dumb and woudln't work the hard bags I originally built for my Firebolt.

I also don't think the Uly *needs* any more power than it has, and this is coming from a HP junkie.

uly should stay with the xb motor. But Buell needs a 1125st, like a modern retro s3t

Looks like we've got at least a couple of 1125S/Ss/CR projects in the works:

It'll be interesting to see if Buell beats them to the punch.

With HD working on liquid cooling their line-ups, I don't see this one happening.

With HD working on liquid cooling their line-ups,

This is just as bad as any Buell rumor... folks have been spitting that off since 2002 with no evidence of such.

And besides, a liquid-cooled Ultra Classic isn't exactly the epitome of Sport Touring - the bikes wouldn't come close to competing with each other.

Your evidence will be available in July or August.

Besides that, HD knows that tougher epa requiremnts are going to all but garuntee they go to liquid cooling on their bigger, heavier bikes.

HD has plenty of touring bikes outside Geezer Glides, starting with the Sportster, Dyna's and the VR. Besides that, a S3T would then be competing with the new Uly XT. I highly doubt that's going to happen.

I don't see an S3T type bike as a competitor to the XT.

That'd be like saying the BMW R1200ST is a competitor for the R1200GS.

Or the Kawasaki Concours 14 is a competitor for the Versys.
