Outstanding.

Gonna have to remember to call my dad (Cmdr USN-Ret; Korea) this weekend.

Thanks to all - those who came home safe, and more importantly, to the families of those who didn't.

This is my Great Uncle Eddie Recka. He was killed on Saipan. Since I can't visit his grave, I will post his picture again here.

My respect and admiration remains for all who have served our country.

Folks, keep your eyes peeled for more and more riders heading to/from D.C. this weekend for the Ride To The Wall.

Great post, great cartoons, in salute to the great men and women of our armed forces.

My Great Grandpa is a Pearl Harbor survivor and even though he's not too sure who I am anymore I still think of him and all he went through for us.
Love to all the families who don't have to be reminded what this day is about.

Thanks for all that are out there still doing it. Keep safe, shoot back when you can, come home to ride again soon.

I Stand Before You

I stand before you all today
But not one eye can see my way

My time arrived, to leave this earth
A fact so planned, to every birth

It happened where I had to go
My torch for life was so aglow

I transferred while in uniform
Protecting freedom, through a storm

Should I resent I died for you
Not on my life, red white and blue

Please help my family through each day
Tell all my friends, try not to stray

And of the country I did love
Do think of me, through God above

Your memories, brought forth this day
Send love to us, who could not stay

My grandfather served in the the 3rd Army in WWII, participated in Normandy Landing and the Battle of the Bulge, he was injured in the Korean War in a rocket attack and rotated back the the states. I never met him as he died before I was born. I am a 4th generation miltary member and a combat veteran.
I get thanked alot by alot of people now that I am in the IL ARNG mainly because of visibility on drill weekends. But the thing I really want to do is thank everyone who came before me they are the ones who paved the way they are the ones who deserve it. So, in closing thank you to all the Veterans who paved the way for all of us now.

Ryan, we have quite a few members who are on active duty right now, you don't have to be "out" to be "in".
We frequently have personnel home on leave that stop in and I can't remember the last time one of them bought a drink.
You are most welcome at VFW 3282.
Good old Ft. Carson, I was the Traffic Divisions daytime shift Sgt. there years ago. Had to review every accident report before they were submitted. It was my last assignment.
