I think it would be hilarious to have a hundred or so riders staying there. Sure its a bit pricey, but the look on the snobs faces when you park on the sidewalk & then walk thru the joint with helmet hair, carrying your tank bag & a 12 pack of your favorite beverage all the while talking about this cool FUCKING road, or that sweet FUCKING chick..would be hilarious.

I wasn't kidding. The place is great. And yes it's awful fun to ride up to the front and hand your tank and tail bag to the valet. And just as much fun to tell 'em to come by later for a beer when they are expecting a tip. Great fun!
The food is excellent. Don't pick they bugs off your leather, save that for when your talking to the Matre D'...

Brian, Oh how I hope I'm home for this one.

Charlie, Came through Roanoke Thursday PM and it was a freaking ice skating rink for about 100 miles on 81 and continued on 77 south.

Jose Q, I'm staying/working/kind of Residence Inning in Fairfax and once the weather cleans up a bit I'll be Buelling in NOVA -- Where do ya'll ride/meet/hang? Advise on location.

Glitch, I can put up a few folks on Ginger Cake -- If I'm there to supervise :-) If I'm not there you and Brian would become the adult supervision. Well, on second thought, just you ; )

I'll get all excited about it and end up stuck somewhere else and miss it on both ends by one day. I know I'll miss it because it's sounding way too cool already.

I see the Auger Springs crew is coming too. This could become quite the event.

Brian, I've been holding your powers in check until I really need them. I would hate to use them up to early in the game and then not have a time out when we really need it :-)

Jose Q, Cool stuff and thanks.

Glitch, This could be a good time for all concerned. I used to know some sisters up around the Hazelnut area (I've no personal interest) but I could sic them on Brian ; ) Whole lots of Mountain Loving.

Mountain lovin' in Little Switzerland, I dated a girl in high school that lived up there. Used to ride a Suzuki GS550 in all kinds of weather to get to see her. Amazing what a young lad will do to see his girl...
Do ya know this area?
Real near Spruce Pine.

I had some family up near Lynn Gap and we used to spend a lot of time up there when I was kid. So, I guess I'm a bit familiar with the area.

actually we do 181 and 221 to blowing rock. It is about a 50 mile run and if I ventured a guess I'd say over 1500 corners in the 50 miles and quite a few blind and posted 10 or 15 mph curves. and of course great food at cheeseburger in paradise with college girl wait staff.

beechmountain road. we hook up with this just outside of banner elk. and we take hickory nut gap rd to banner elk from newland. and the road has the word gap in it so you know how this one is. hickory nut gap road is one of our favorites because in only 2 or 3 spots even if your pushing it you can only hit 50 mph for a split second before your back on the brakes.way to much funn.

and ofcourse great food at the banner elk cafe..they actually have a 1lb hamburger called the bubba burger but I ain't got the guts to eat it and then try to ride the rest of the day.

this is 194 right north of banner elk. This road I call the rollercoaster. it is a very challenging road because it has a crap load of elevation changes. it ain't the smoothest pavement around and there is this beautiful s curve switch back that is really 2 180 degree corners hooked together that brings you down to about 10 to 20 mph. it is that tight.
one time I actually heard my buddy bear behind laughing like a crazy man going weeeeeheeeeheeeeheee the first time he went thru it.
and that if with helmut and earplugs in...needless to say he was way happy.

This is truly going to be a great time.
I may have to quit my job and spend to whole ridin' season back home.

I'm not reading anymore of this. You fellas are killing me. If I miss this one, and it in my back freaking yard, I'll just give it up.

Still looking for that engineering position in the Piedmont that requires minimal work ethic, little in the way of skills, and lots of free time off to ride. If you're interested let me know ; ) Later.

All they're doing is reinforcing my decision to come no matter WHAT. There's no way Delphi could keep me from going to this.

The only questions now are do I come by my lonesome or bring the girlfriend, and ride all the way down or save the tires and truck it. I'm still torn between the Metzelers and Pirelli Diablos for this trip...

Either tire will be a good choice.
If you ride all the way though I would choose the Diablos, as you'll get more miles for your money. Unless of course you're talking about the Metzler Pilot Street, then I wouldn't know as I've not tried those yet.
I'm gonna more than likely trailer up, but that's because I know I'm gonna wanna ride as soon as I get there, and I don't wanna be tired at all.

Metzeler Sportecs...XB9 has nothing but good things to say about them. Ditto the Pirellis. It might come down to flipping a coin. I'm going to be removing a set of perfectly good stock ('perfectly good' is a debatable term when applied to stock XB tires, anyways) tires ini favor of these, which means tire life isn't as much of an issue because when they wear out I'll just put the stockers back on.

I think I will truck it down, though. There, one decision made. I need a trailer that I can put both bikes in for this stuff...then I wouldn't need help getting the damned bike out of the truck, too. Happened to me last time I was down there. Perfect weather and not a soul around to help me get the bike out!
