How about slapping on a black Trask turbo setup. They have a Nightster on the site with one.

pity it would scrape every where.

That's the issue with either of the Nightster models (er....Iron for 883). The "ride" and "handling" department. They're slammed to the ground, with firm shocks and paper-thin seats, to get seat height down. Problem is you can run over a quarter and tell if it's heads or tails, and if you bank to one side to pull into a parking space, you're going to drag a peg (those feelers are on there for a reason).

Don't get me wrong, they're great bikes for what they are - backbone frame, low ride height, low / thin seat, "profiler" type bike. But, if you're on a Buell site I'd assume a margin of performance is expected out of your motorcycles...and the XL/N just won't have it, at least not without a lot of money thrown at it.

That's my biggest problem with the XR, too. Harley has Buell. Why are they advertising they "finally" have the "much awaited American v-twin sportbike"?

With non-adjustable suspension?

And over 600lb curb weight?

And a backbone frame?

<sigh> Sorry, it just gets to me hearing, day in and day out, customers saying "HD *finally* built a sportbike"...when our XR is sitting EIGHT FEET from our Buells. Grrr.

Oh, and Oddball - there IS an under-engine exhaust for an XR. It's called an XB. : )

Its ok, H-D thought the XLCR would run with the Cafe Triumphs and Ducatis...
You cant just slap a small bikini fairing on it and call it a cafe bike, there has to be some performance to it, and a whole bunch of lightening.

I have been looking around at dealers to try to get a good deal and the best I have found is $7499 otd, the worst I have found is $9950 otd. I actually called the place advertising for the $9950 to see what they were thinking or if that was actually the Nightster price. They told me that this is a new hot model they have 2 avaliable in each color and they will be selling quick. I said at that price one can go get a Nightster. The dealer that has the Iron for $7499 has the Nightster for $9499. I cannot see anyone paying 10k for a 883. These dealers trying to make a buck on a bike that is suppose to be a cheap entry level bike are just nuts!

Good prices. That's a dealer I'd want to see thrive.

Well, I just test rode a Nightster. It was fun, had a lot of torque, but it was no Buell. I assume the 1200 is more powerful than the 883. If that's the case, I'll forget the Iron 883.

"pity it would scrape every where."
Which is why I have my chunky butt on a XL883R with 13inch rear shocks

I got a pic of the 883 Iron from the Chicago IMS...

Posting from my phone, so I can't upload to my gallery yet.
