I also was able to get out shooting Sunday!

I had a group of people, so we spent most of the time shooting clays.

Only about half of these were ours... but it's still a lot! We shot about three hundred shells I believe.

She has a sore shoulder!

ACTION SHOT!

Dad shooting my new Savage Arms:

At 100 yards:

Adding to her sore shoulder, a buddy of mines WW2 beast. I don't remember what size it was, but it shot a freaking two foot flame out the barrel with every shot.

A couple low shots destroyed my target stand!

I don't remember what size it was,

That's a Mosin-Nagant 7.62x54 and it can be mistaken for a flame-thrower (you should really go shoot it at night to get the full pyrotechnics that they put off.)

For all you gun enthusiasts there is a disturbing trend out there:
According to Yahoo, several cities are doing toy gun back programs for kids and giving them McDonalds gift certificates for 'turning them in'
A fat docile generation is ahead.

I was at the gun range and this guy next to me had a new glock 26 i think? And he was shooting it for the first time and the slide broke off shot back and ripped his hand up and almost took his thumb off. It was the first 25rnds. Scared me i was right next to it when it blew, And then the swat team was letting people shoot there full auto subs and i was next to shoot it and this dumb a%$ bit@# started to shoot and as we all know about RECOIL.....But she didn't, The gun goes up and she shot the roof like 15 times and everyone started running and diving all over. so the swat team said no more and took it away from her stupid arse, I didn't get shoot it. DAM DAM DAM.

EVERYONE RUN FOR COVER

What kind of shotgun is that on the left??? Looks very similar to my Winchester 1200. Maybe that or a mosberg 500? Either way... where'd you get that grip with the built in light? I'm getting that adjustable stock for mine this christmas.

You're collection is amazing.

I turned in a gun during a police buy-back program about 18 years ago. They were offering $100 for any gun, in any condition. I gave them my broken 22 rifle, took the money and bought a new 22 rifle. Most of the people I stood in line with were holding guns that were obviously not in working order. It was fun watching the police walk down the line, making each inoperable gun "safe" (one was obviously in a house fire) by checking the magazine and breach, and then zip-tieing a guard over the trigger, when they indeed had triggers.

Gun buybacks are a joke. If the government bought back or otherwise destroyed a million guns a year, it would take over 300 years to get rid of them all. I suspect there is a better solution. Making violent criminals serve their entire sentence springs to mind.

Mikef5000, that's just a Remington 870 Wingmaster with a factory 18" cyl bore barrel with rifle sights (I haven't seen these barrels offered anymore). The forend is a Surefire...the stock a cheap one-piece copy sold by ProMag of an Arms-Tech stock adapter and Command Arms grip with a collapsible stock.

It's a small but fairly well rounded collection, me thinks. Money saved in my service days funded them.

Hootowl, that's a good idea. I have a rusty old 22LR missing some parts that needs turning in.

Maximum, I like the USMC's better:

I know it is gonna sound stupid, but, unless you bought your gun from "the Govt." how can they buy it BACK ?

We had one of these rediculous schams in Newark (pronounced NORK) New Jersey a few years back. Apparently an old poor widow was on line with her old gun hoping to get a few bucks for it when one of Newark's finest saw her. I guess he was clearing weapons or something. He noticed her gun and offered to give her a few more dollars than the Govt. would for it. Living in Newark I think he should've told her the gun is more usefull than a few bucks. At any rate he gave her what amounted to next to nothing for the gun wich was later appraised at over $100,000.00 ! I don't know how he got busted. Maybe one of her family members noticed it missing ? People just suck and I hope Karma works like a well oiled machine next time it makes a pass by his house, scumbag.

Skins.. Stories like that abound..

Years ago, when my great Uncle died, his new wife didn't know that I was supposed to come out and collect his 'foot locker' (A large custom build sea chest type case that would take 4 of us to carry at minimum).

He was a Police Officer at a major metro dept. from the 40's to the early 70's. Inside was a collection that was put together from his brother (my Grandfather) and his family and career in LE. I only know of a couple of items out of the God knows how many pieces that were in there. She opened the footlocker, saw all that evil crime about to happen and called the local PD to take it all away and destroy it...

By the time one of my cousins heard what was happening and called me (I was supposed to go out a month later to collect the locker) it was too late. EVERYTHING (including a Thompson M1A in the 'FBI' case and a late 1800's Colt .45 Peacemaker) was gone. She didn't think it was (A) Legal to own that many guns. (B) was a crime to possess guns in her area without special licenses. (C) worth any real value. (D) would contribute to the crime in the area when they (the guns) became antsy and wanted out?? - Long story short, she had no idea what was there and only believed what she had heard a bunch of politicos telling her.

I was very mad at her for quite a while. Took a while for me to re-channel it, after all, my getting these things were 'old knowledge' in my family. There was no will except for whatever paperwork my Great Uncle had left in the locker and since that went with the guns.. well.. I have no idea what else was there or what his final intentions for it all were.

She did offer to buy me a foot locker in consolation. Damn...

I won't post any picture of any guns I will deny owning through my teeth, with a smile when the new militia answerable only to the President that the Prez elect is going to fund better than the U.S. military..... or what ever conspiracy theory the right wing nuts are claiming he said he was going to do. ( never mind the youtube universe where the speech can be found...for now )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9LwUbFy--A

The new guy want's "common sense" gun control laws. That's a change from his previous stance, on the surface. Of course, it was "common sense" for british soldiers to confiscate the guns of all the colonists in Boston, when a few malcontents opposed sensible rule by the King. It was "common sense" for the Soviets to ban guns from it's slaves. It was "common sense" to ban the owning of Swords in Japan, unless you were of the ruling class. It has always been "common sense" to disarm the peons you wish to rule.

Fortunately, the President does not rule, he serves the people who elect him in free elections, ( not counting Al Franken....who's still counting ) and we have a Constitution that explicitly guarantees the right of the free citizen to keep and bear arms.

So I have nothing to worry about from my President. Whew. good thing. Still, no pics, sorry.

I will comment, in a completely theoretical sense, with no relation to anything I may know anything about, ...

That the Knox recoil reduction stock available on the Remington 870 12 ga. shotgun does an excellent job of cutting down the punch to the shoulder that slugs & buck give. I would avoid a tight cheek weld though, as it will slap the cheek, smartly. To improve aiming at...say...goblins in the house, I heartily recommend the LaserMax light/laser combo for the Rem. 870. Nothing reduces the need to make loud noises like a steady dot of bright red light on the bridge of a Goblins nose.
Thank you.

Boring day, let’s take this in new direction.
What kind of gun would you take w/ you if you were touring on an adventure bike – planning on camping, sometimes in bear country – but also upon occasion having to pass thru cities w/ phobic peace officers?
Until I can come up w/ something better am leaning to my 1st gun, a Savage 22/410. Breaks down small enough to fit in a backpack – loaded w/ a slug might, just barley dissuade a bear – if necessary could be used for foraging – have used it for grouse & rabbits - surprisingly accurate, both the 22 & the 410 w/ slugs.
It has been my favorite gun for 50+ years but it is just barely good enough for anything.

Interesting swing of the ole "thread jack"...

To answer your question with my opinion, I would carry a can of Bear Spray and whatever conceal weapon you fill most comfy with.

Unless you are shooting a 454 casull or a SW500 forget shooting at a bear. Spray whats in the can and watch them run. A bears nose is waaaay sensitive...

As far as the concealed weapon, I can shoot anything worth eating with a 9mm or any person I want to "STOP" from harming me for that matter with said 9mm. I like fast handgun rounds.

my 2cents
