Anyone catching any of the nasty bugs going around? My grandson was just admitted to the hospital with a nasty bug. Poor little guy had the runny nose & eyes bit & then it got real bad real fast. 103.5 temp, they are bringing that down & the doc says he should be ok.

I had my flu shot about a month ago, hope I dont get this nasty assed deal.

I guess the "Normal" Flu shot doesn’t cover that particular strain.

I hope your grandson has a speedy recovery.

Supposedly they are going to keep him for up to 10 days. has the flu & a viral infection in his lungs. Because he was a preemie it screwed up his lungs a bit & it hits them super hard. Temp is coming down a bit, so he is doing a bit better.
Thanks.

Sorry to here about the grandson Dyna. The flu is pretty bad.Just about everyone I speak to has a story to tell and they all seem to involve the hospital.Unfortenatly the flu shot doesn't cover all of the flu viruse's because there is different strains of the flu every year and its getting stronger every year.

Yea, I was reading that they are saying its some weird Fiji flu virus. They basically have to guess what flu strain will be seeing & then make a shot for it. Sometimes we get lucky & hit it exact, other times..well its not so good.

The guys at my work havent been hit with it yet. And if they do, I wonder if a SARS mask would help? I really really want to do all I can avoid this bug. My damn immune system is compromised anyways because I had my spleen removed 20+ yrs ago. It helps to fight off infections & bugs. I get a flu shot every yr & so far havent been hit hard in quite a few years, but I know its going to get me some day.
