I look at it this way:

"I would rather be prepared and not need, than not and be sorry"

Some people wake up and think"nothing bad will happen to me". Utopia is far away and is a great 1970 back up band.

better a sheep dog than a sheep.

Just the way I feel personally. It's a mindset thing. Lots of good in the world but with it is lots of bad.

This is Not An Official G.I. Joe/Snake Eyes Bike
Contributed by Robert Sanchez
Thursday, 30 October 2008
Custom Buell Bike NOT to be featured in G.I. Joe movie.

Yesterday G.I. Joe fansite HISS Tank posted a few pictures of a Buell Bike and reported the following:

HISS Tank.com has just received Images of what appear to be the G.I. Joe Motorcycle that Snake Eyes will use in the
upcoming G.I. Joe Movie Rise Of Cobra.
No Official word has been handed down as to what the bike will be called or its affiliation with the film. I emailed the HISS Tank site to tell them of their error after someone sent me the pics, but they didn't respond or update their posting. Soon a few other sites posted the pics as official Snake Eyes bike pics as well, so I felt the need to set the record straight. Here is your official word, the bike that was customized by Harley Davidson of San Diego for IESB's The Wrath of Con party that took place during San Diego Comic Con earlier this year. The images featured by HISS Tank were taken on
the rooftop of the Hard Rock Hotel during the set up for IESB's party. A few sites have been suckered into reporting that the bike would be featured in Sommer's upcoming film, no, the bike
will not be featured in Paramount's live action film. But, I do have some cool pictures of Larry Hama and Ray Park
admiring the bike at the party.

Don't you think they monitor this site? Do you think they will tolerate you taunting them?

Now you did it!

You can find the same sort of trouble in Auckland as you can in any major city. gangstas and all that shizzle.

It's not hard to avoid either.

Yep-
For anyone interested in an outstanding film that touches upon one aspect of Kiwi gang violence, I ABSOLUTELY recommend the '94 film
"Once Were warriors".
truly brilliant stuff.
Hell, I recall the city of Apia, Western Samoa being ravaged by gang violence and serial suicide (via paraquat ingestion) back in 1983!!!!!!!!!!

Poseur Punk movement docudramatics, not real gang stuff- middle-class kids craving attention and going the "hradcore" (please...) route.

latent homosexual angst coupled with a middle-class caucasian need for attention

I have carried, and discharged, weapons in areas where their need was both demonstrated and officially indicated, hence my disdain for the Walter Mittys stateside (I don't lump cops into this category, on or off-duty) who fantasize about being, somehow, a hero someday for shooting a bad guy...and winning the sexual favours of some web-goddess as a result.
keep the web warrior games and real life separated, kids.

I can note far too many situations in which some nebbish brandished a weapon, only have his ass handed to him for doing so, and then
spending a few nights in "County" while learning what man-on-man intimacy really feels like.
...can't bring your sad little sidearm into the big house, fantasy carriers...

Why do so many people assume that a civilian with a firearm is a vigilante...? I'm thinking perhaps THOSE are the people that watch too much TV....

carrying constitutes intent to use or brandish.

A civilian action which engenders use of a firearm, presuming same use is lawful and legally defensible (self-defense, defense of other civilan{s}), by definition, constitues a vigilante action. (Ignoring the societal stigma attached to vigilantism)
I watch far less TV than the majority of people I know, and I have effectively discharged firearms in combat.

How's that work for you, "Swordsman"?

"Intent to use" does not directly equate to "willing to use". Much the same as my car has both an air bag system and seatbelts, neither of which I intend to use for their intended purposes but still carry them seatbelts and airbag system in my car daily in my travels. If I were to carry a firearm it would not be with "intent to use or brandish" no more than my buckling my seatbelt on implies any "intent to impact".

A slight tangent to the thought-line, but sometimes a divergent thought angles down a path towards a slippery slope that I'd hope to avoid if possible.

I'll leave further discussion on this topic to other websites and discussion venues. As to this thread - I'm gone - except to agree with the comments about Once Were Warriors.

edited to clarify the dance steps

I give you a c+ for dancing, and fail you for compelling or substantial argument, Mikej.

A seatbelt's a passive device mandated for general use in associated states, a gun engenders active intent toward aggressive force....and anything but mandated, but, rather, beaurocratically impeded, despite constitutional indication.

How is it that you carry in your "travels"...are your travels restricted to intrastate jaunts...or do you possess extremely stringent federal carries as well ?as state permits?
