When do you guys work out? I know it sounds like a copout, but man, my day is so damn full! I'm already up by like 7, kids dressed, school at 8:30, work at 9am, work til like 7pm or so, home, dinner, kids bed, cleanup kitchen, laundry, whatever else, bed 10 or 11pm.

My favorite exercise is swimming, but the local Y is only open until like 9, pool til 8:30. They open at 6am, but all the lanes are taken by the senior swim club until almost 7:30, which would make me miss school for kids.

I tried an evening walk after dinner, but man it's freakin' cold. And it gets dark so early...

Whine whine whine, I know. How do you folks work a workout into your schedule?

Thanks, I guess.

I wish I had time to put a helmet ON! ; )

I think the answer is to just work out for like 5 hours on Sunday.

Then, someone can wheel me to work on Monday.

Well I went to the Doc. My BP is low now. 111 over 79. Little did I even know I lost 6 lbs. in 3 week's. He switched my meds to something that I may not have to be on in due time. So it was really good news today. It made me really feel good. Tomorrow is another story. I go to the foot Doc.

chellem, we have an elliptical in the house and a good 30 minute work out on one at 60rpms will make you sweat pretty good(it does me) it's better for the joints imo. plus you don't have to go outside in the cold.

The is no greater work out than being a mother and your time is being used to it's highest calling . . . : ) . . . I've seen the kidlets!

Keep Momming and there'll be time to work out . . . trust me, in a blink of an eye they'll be grown.

Chellem, try Weight watchers its one hour a week the rest of the time you are following their plan. Its $200 for 17 weeks. The meetings are like support groups and you can network with other Moms and they will help you find ideas on lite cooking and finding time to do exercise. In the first to weeks I learned a lot and starved: ). After the first week you realize the amount of food you used to eat. K

Nutrisystem works also, esp if you don't want/ need or have time for meetings.

Worked/works for me. Dropped 40+ pounds in 3 months. Finishing off the last of my food now. Should be able to maintain my current weight, if I continue doing my elliptical trainer exercise routine. NS does a nice job of teaching portion control.

Just increase exercise, and decrease caloric intake.

Remember that one stride burns the same caloric value as one pushup.

my point?

IF weight-loss is your goal, start walking, consistently, and stop eating sh*t.
One horrible additive to food in this country is corn syrup, which is best avoided, albeit difficult to do.

Watch what you eat, don't go near fast food (Subway has some healthier fare, but you're at the mercy of the microbes carried by the employees, who handle the food that does not enjoy the antimicrobial luxury of cooking between employee prep/consumer ingestion).

Ignore the shortcut fads: walk more, run when you can, and improve your fuel quality.
You Marys who lament not having the time to walk, or to prepare /find healthy food really need to reassess your time expenditure...
you're finding time to sit on your ass and read this, right?

Yup, 110 pounds so far for me.

For the last month or so I've been skipping the NS dinners and started making my own stuff on the weekends. I try to keep the portions close to NS size, but when the weather turns sour I really enjoy cooking on the weekends. M-F the NS ease of preparation is still the way to go. As the weather gets worse, I get into even more of a sleep-eat-work repeat 5 times routine. In years past that meant a lot of fast food. Now it's to the cupboard for a NS entrée and into the microwave for 90 seconds. Make up a quick salad with low fat or fat free dressing and it's dinner time.

Well, I'm reading this at work, while I'm already sitting on my ass doing other things. :P

Nutri system absolutely works - but once I stopped eating their little bags of food, it didn't last. Plus, jeez, I have NO idea what crazy chemicals and preservatives are in beef tips and gravy that doesn't need refrigerating.

I guess sometime between 9 and 10pm would be when I'd have time. I should check craigs list for some inexpensive treadmill or something.

, OR, better yet, set your alarnm clock for one hour earlier than usual- this serves the dual function of:

1. Giving you at least 30 minutes of, EVERY DAY, of walking time

2. raising your BMR earlier in your wakeful day, thus effecting a higher BMR throughout the day, for a greater duration, which equates to synergistically higher caloric 'burn'.

Why do you think AM miltary PT is so effective?
If we all might enforce the effort to act as our own Black Hat, America might climb out of the pit of soft, fatty laziness that plagues its contemporary citizenry
