Cityxslicker: Unfortunately, being as "Eastern Europe" and Russia now enjoy considerably higher standards of living than the US does, I'd imagine US mail order brides would be the norm that is, if they were half as hot as "Eastern European" wimminz.... |

One of my best friends about 5 years ago married a girl from Russia. He flew there 3 times and it costed him alot of money to get her here. It didn't last a year. She wasn't interested in him. She was interested in living on US soil only. It took her two more years to get her Mom and Dad here. I warned him as did others. He sold some expensive cars to pay the fee's and Attorney fees to get her here. |

Yep, In the near 13 years I have been doing it, I think I know of only 4 couples still married. Most of them are after the green card punch. I now have a waiver that gets signed before I translate page 1. I make no guarantees or warantees about a girls' intentions or motivations, all correspondence is at your own risk. All expenses (ie my fees) are paid up front, and no refunds. I have a list of immigration attorneys and divorce attorneys that I can refer you to. Everybody thinks it wont happen to them..... Like Charlie on Two & 1/2 Men said, "I aint married cuz I dont want to give a woman half of my stuff." |

About two months ago I dated a chick from Russia, she was living in a 3 bedroom apt with 8 other Russian girls. After a month into it she started buying me really nice gifts and started talking about marriage. I thought nothing of it. Good sex, cool new stuff, a chick that waited on me hand and foot. Till she got ahold of some lawyer and he started asking me to finalize some paper work. After a couple phone calls telling him he had the wrong number. She asked me if her lawyer had spoke to me. I asked what was he calling me for, and she said "About our wedding silly." I had one more evening of fun and broke it off in the morning. She flipped the hell out, i showed her the door. never saw her again. Last month I went to a club and went home with one of her room mates, when i saw the apt complex i cringed cause i knew I'd see the EX, yep and she was drunk as hell. We had a 3 way, and the next morning she sobered up and kicked the crap out of me. I'm still tapping her room mate. |

Sales guru I know on the Gold Coast does the Russian Bride thing. Stunning, university educated wimmen that all had a reason to get out of Russia, previous bad marriage etc. 3 or 4 times now. Puts them on a contract - some have lasted longer - some not - The last one he got his pilot, solicitor and accountant make to make up the shortlist. |

The apt complex is called Riverside Apartments on Halifax Dr., in Daytona Beach. apt # 2-- There was a 3 or a 6 in there. Not sure of the actual number I just know which elevator to wait at. Froggy, c'mon down! Its not all fun and games, I get shot down hundreds of times in a night. And sometimes you have to double bag it! |

"Unfortunately, being as "Eastern Europe" and Russia now enjoy considerably higher standards of living than the US does, I'd imagine US mail order brides would be the norm " "considerably higher standards of living than the US " I call baloney. Not sure why any American would ever think such a thing. Skip the debate, simply compare the following in Russia versus America...
Home ownership rate Average home size Automobile ownership rate Computer ownership rate Television ownership rate Cell phone use rate Amount spent per capita on eating out Amount spent per capita on entertainment/sports/liesure Recreational vehicle ownership Boat ownership Aircraft ownership Be careful of your sources. Thats funny, I was thinking of offing my house, canceling my cell phone, using the tv for target practice, never buying a boat, plane, or RV, and not updating a 25 year old truck. Rest assured capitalism is alive and well in Russia, Moscow did not get to be the most expensive city on the planet for no reason at all. |

Ah, gentlemen, especially you Tramp, you simply know not of what you speak. I am married [for many years] to a Russian National, own a 2nd home in Moscow, have friends, family, and business associates there. Russia does not now, never has, and never will, enjoy the standard of living of the U.S. It is presently going through a financial crisis that makes ours look like Romper-Room silliness. Yes, Moscow is the world's most expensive city, but it has held, and lost, that dubious distinction several times. Part of the expensiveness is connected to the ruble/dollar exchange rate. However, the ruble has recently fallen dramatically [against the Euro too] as foreign capital has fled, the Russian stock market crashed 50%+, credit frozen solid as banks fail, Federal govt. revenues, which are largely dependent on energy exports, fallen 50%, and so forth. As for Russian women and their reputed desire to get out, if you get to know them well enough that they will speak personally with you, they will tell you that they think that years of war losses, Stalinist purges, and Soviet-era abuses, have damaged the Russian male gene pool. Russian women tend to be traditional, movie-star good looks notwithstanding, and value family most highly. They feel very vulnerable when looking forward to marriage, kids, etc. The Russian divorce rate is astronomical and the term "New Russian", as applied to men, is a pejorative. For the most part Russian women are well-educated, articulate, work to keep themselves in good shape, and interested only in building a stable homelife. Are there sleezes and gold-diggers looking only for a green card to be found in Russia? Most certainly, as there are in Cleveland, Detroit, and Buffalo. Green card aside of course. But all of this is too insightful I suppose, so carry on guys... (Message edited by rfischer on November 13, 2008) (Message edited by rfischer on November 13, 2008) |

You said it RFischer. All anyone need do is compare the per-capita ratio of local small town airports, marinas, and the like to see how America rates compared other nations in standard of living. It fries my brain how some Americans are so eager to belittle and berate their own country. BTW, I hear tell that Cuba's health care system is wondrous. How many doctors per capita and MRI machines per capita would be a good measure to compare also. |

Cuba is a wonderful spot.... Too Bad Castro has a strangle hold on it. Imagine if it had gotten the chance to develop like Hawaii did. It would be a truly great tourist destination. Damn Communists mess up a good time for everyone. |

My friends Ex told my wife and I how she lived and seen many picture's. She new what a McDonalds was but never seen one. She new what a grocery store was but never seen one. They bought on the street I guess.. like stands with people selling bread and so on and so on. In her area the Russian Mafia is there. You can borrow money you 2 dollars for everyone 1 borrowed. Basically you never get ahead. She lived in a apartment with Mother, Father, and a couple family and her young 9 year old Son. She was looked at as a slut for having a child without father present. My wife got her a job a bit after she was here at my work,a Hospital as a Nurses Aid. My wife is a CCU Nurse there of 17 years. Then my wife helped her enroll in the RN program at our area Tech School. In all this time she was in Russian Support group's here. They were showing her how to adapt but also to be indepenent (without husband) and still being able to stay in this country. Her in school, showing that she had a good job with room to move up,having a child that needed to be supported, and finally proving that her American husband is abusive.... which my friend is not in any way. Divorce granted, she got nothing out of it but her freedom. I'm not saying this is all that Russian women do but this is what happened to my friend of many years. I thought she was a very wonderful women till we got to see between the lines. My friend was more mad then hurt and my was was also because she put helped her and she never spoke to my wife again after the break up with my friend. |
