Buellgrrrl, did you accidentally post that to the wrong thread or something? Aren't we already having this argument in the no-more-dealers thread? And, just for a moment, let's assume that HOG management is not the dim-bulbs you think it is. IF they had a plan, a good long-term plan, do you honestly think they would share it with the world? Or are you just expecting a phone call from them for your approval on it? And, as was stated elsewhere, as the current white-guys age, more white guys are also entering the demographic. People don't mystically stop aging at 30. AND H-D is actively seeking new demographics. So to assume that they're just sitting around waiting for money to come in is ridiculous. I'm thinking this "palace" thing actually IS part of the plan to target a new, younger demographic. We have short attention spans, and need some "pop" to get our attention (so I've been told by those that study this sort of thing). I dunno if I qualify as "younger" at 31, but I know I have the attention span of a hummingbird. And I want some of Buellgrrrl's magical age-stopping serum, before it's too late and I wind up contributing to this "disappearing demographic".! ~SM | ||

For what it`s worth it seems that Buell is already growing at a substantial rate. I was told by the owner of my local dealership that their Buell sales doubled this year. It could be a fluke but I think that sales will continue to rise. They still won`t keep Buell related merchandise on the shelf though. I was told that it doesn`t sell and they have to discount it in order to get rid of it. I think that selling discounted merchandise is better than selling no merchandise. Even at a discounted price they are still selling for a profit. I don`t know what the markup % is but the way I see it 15% off something with a 100% mark up is pretty damn good especially if it keeps customers happy and coming back. | ||

A few sentences after that, which was in direct response to YOUR assessment that H-D's only demographic was dying white people, I stated that H-D was going after new demographics. As are we. We don't assume any customers will be here next week, next month, tomorrow even. But it seems you assume any damn thing you want. I'm done with you. Again. I've seen more and people other than white guys on Harleys over the last few years. I would think chellem could care less who she sells a bike to. Nor any other dealer. And my middle aged white middle income people will be here long after I'm gone. Oh Sh@t I've fallen into the trap again. I can confirm that Buell will be growing substantially. I **think**, and grant you that statistics are funny and allow things like "doubled volume" when you go from 3 to 6, at low numbers, at one time Buell was tagged as the "fastest growing vehicle company in history". I have nothing to back that up. Buell will be growing. With respect to the comment about Liberty and "white guys", I'd say someone failed to get the memo. New York City is the world's melting pot and virtually every event I've attended at Liberty has a host of fascinating folks from a variety of races and cultures. . . they don't much seem to care if you are an enthusiast. There is certainly a lot of misleading information in this thread. | ||
