From H-DNet:

October 27, 2008

"Buell Motorcycles’ goal is to be the fastest growing motorcycle brand over the next five years; growing quickly, profitably, and worldwide.
Is your dealership ready for it?

The new Buell Concept Store created for riders, by riders was introduced at the Summer Dealer Meeting in Las Vegas, NV. Check out the various installation options we offer; we're sure there is one that fits your dealership and will create a high impact to help fuel the passion."

Hope lots of dealers will do this!

HellBuelly J
"It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try a Buell."

I am not sure what a Concept Store is but it sounds like a cool thing. Frank

Maybe it's one of those store-inside-a-store setups, with half walls and whatnot...?

We need some pics!

SM, you may be right but it sounds like a lot more. I hope Buell is getting ready to shake up the dealerships again. Sounds like the overseas market will grow as well.

That is just me reading between the lines.

I have never guessed what Buell was going to do next. I have tried and been wrong every time. I resisted many things like Fuel Injection, XBs, Ulys and water cooled motors but every time when I have ridden and tasted the product I have been impressed.

Google is no help.

Wonder what they're talking about.

Some separation between Buell and buttless chaps is long overdue.

It'd be nice to see it happen, but probably not in this economy. In the meantime, maybe they could treat every customer well regardless of protective gear, gender, etc....

Granite Mountain already have their Buell Boutique.
I only have a couple of pictures, but they're more of the 1125R they put custom paint on.
You can still kind of see the bike stands they use, plasma screen, and a mural on the wall.
It's a store within a store kind of thing.
They were one of the test stores, it was installed before MB-V.

One of the exciting things coming. A lot of thought and work went into this.

Buell has some capital inside HD as their sales contine to be strong.

City - please I'd love to see some pics! I saw some pics of the design at the show (I wasn't there though) but I'd like to see how it works at an ACTUAL dealership.

I remember thinkin' it had a pretty high price tag - worried it might price itself out of range for most dealers to want to do it.

But what a cool idea! Can't wait to see how it works!

Skip Fordyce HD/B in Riverside, Ca. has opened a Buell store-within-a-store. Grand Opening was March 2008!
Looks nice, huh.

Best of all, they have a dedicated Buell Specialist.

well I hate to be the one to bust their balls.......again. Last time I was at Granite Mountain for the headlight recall, I wandered around the store for a good hour inside and out......and well... I noticed one major thing missing from their establishment...........Not one damn sign that says BUELL outside of the store anywhere. how the eff are you going to promote what is inside the store if you don't promote it from the outside!!!

It's actually one paint job that looks better in pictures than it does in person.

Just goes to show, looks ain't everything.
It is one pretty store, I'll give 'em that much.

But a Buell sign outside will disrupt the harmonious orange and black flow and distract from the bar and shields of the great shrines to the moco. You blue and white taggers!

A nice looking Buell store would be great BUT It'd be nicer if they carried some PARTS and not just bikes and jackets. I can get the bikes and gear here but try and get most parts and it's "We'll have to order that, see ya in a couple of weeks." no matter what it is.

If Buell wants to grow they're going to have to belly up to the bar and MAKE the dealers carry some of the most common parts as stock. I mean H-D wouldn't let them sell bikes and no support would they? (maybe they would I don't know don't have a H-D). I know this is a big black mark when most of the Jap dealers here carry a ton of parts.

Best shop I ever was in had old race posters and a pot belly stove a couple of rocking chairs and a shop cat! They didn't care if you bought a bike or a hat you were treated like a valued friend and look out for. Many many years ago...sold Bultacos!

They could have county rules about putting signage up.
Our local county sign geschtapo will only let you have so many square inches of signpost based on store overall footprint.
Which is the reason we have a small sign that isnt visible from the freeway....
And if you exceed their sign limits they will fine your business, heavily.
I suggested a Buell "BatLight" sign.... Management hasnt taken the idea and run with it yet. : | Killed in committee

There is a Buell Store within a store at a dealer near me. It is set up in the old main entrance to the dealer, but as the store is laid out it is like it is in the back of the store (if that makes any sense).

It is a pretty neat concept. But I rarely see any customers there and have never seen any sales people in that part of the store.

Is it just me or is the average Buell rider not impressed with strobelights and fireworks or any other such rediculousness. Actually I'm bothered by it. I would much rather go into a shop with a worn wood floor and some character than these boutiques as you call them. I can understand that the "new" H-D crowd likes that kind of sshhiitt and therefore the dealers must do it. I just can't help think that most Buellers would feel more comfortable in a "low pressure" environment. It would certainly cost less for the dealers.

Oh yeah, customers are sure paying for those palaces. I rather liked the tiny old dealers with the metal hanging Bar & Shield sign on the wrong side of the tracks. No huge inventory but no huge overhead either.

That whole palace concept puts on a nice show but those places should have only evolved from good dealers that move the inventory to support and warrant the expense. Successful enthusiastic owners that wanted to show off a bit and didn't mind spending their money.

Instead of the "Batlight" do a more modern Buell-lite with laser projection. Leave them old fashioned lights in the 20th.

There is a Buell Store within a store at a dealer near me.

I think I've been to that store...you are right, it felt like I was wandering around the store-room.

At my local shop, they try to separate the few Buells from the sea of chrome and attire but it still feels like you're shopping at the 'Plus sized' section of the department store....not that it really matters to me but perhaps the idea is to help win some crossover traffic with the younger crowd that otherwise shop in the Big4 showrooms.

HOG(NYSE)!

Their customer base is aging white guys with middle class incomes... A diminishing, if not dying, demographic. The dealer network, with big box stores spread about the country, should be an asset. But they're even more in denial than HOG... Expecting their disappearing demographic to magicly keep coming in their doors and buying overpriced bikes and trinkets forever, regardless of economic downturns and outright market realignments.
