"At its recent annual dealer gathering here in the United States, Suzuki displayed a Burgman 400 Sport Concept (pictured above) that adds unique styling, fairing, suspension, brakes and tires to Suzuki's single-cylinder, 400cc scooter platform. Reportedly, the dealers were impressed, and urged Suzuki to put the bike into production. " So uhhh... what was the previous version? A steel frame on cement blocks?!? |

I bet it'd sell - not to THIS crowd but it'd sell pretty well. Scooters are doing very good all over the planet as far as sales numbers. Small displacement/economical/good insurance... it'd make it into quite a few garages (and dorm rooms) |

Scooters are real big here. Some are all tricked out like the Ricer Boyz do their cars. |

I'm seeing scooters around here too and I have never seen scooters in my area. For the price and the gas millage I would just get a Blast instead and not feel so gay. |

Hell, my XB got better gas mileage than most scooters over 250cc, and I could take it on the highway. |

Laugh all you want, but some day you might just get passed in the twistys by one. |

Scooters scare the hell out of me. I see them in traffic all the time around here - they're the rock in the middle of the river, if you ask me. Nothing but impeding flow and endangering their riders. And, here in MD, apparently you can own/operate one on the road - yes, *on the road* - with no tags, helmet, insurance, license or training. <shudder> Supposedly the law was changed this past summer, turning them into "motorcycles" and requiring the same tags, insurance, gear, and licensing as a "real" motorcycle...but I have yet to see the result of that on the roads. |

Rat the AN 400 pictured above will top out at an indicated 95+ mph, I'd hardly call that impeding traffic flow. My AN650 will do an indicated 119. |

Laugh all you want, but some day you might just get passed in the twistys by one. The last Burgman I ran in the twisties with ended up in the weeds. |

My Sportster buddies won't let me ride with them on the Burgman........because they would rather be embarrassed by one of my Buells. |

Unfortunately some people consider the Burgman a "scooter" - because of its step-through design. Heck, my DRZ400 has about the same power and I'm comfortable cruising at 70 on the freeway on it. A 50cc scooter is a different story - but the Burgman-type is a great machine for some people. |

How many bikes do you know of that 3 twelve packs and a carton of smokes will fit under the seat. |

I don't have a problem with scooters, I had the original Uber-Scooter (1986 CN250 Helix). Dozens of my friends took their Motorcycle endorsement road tests on it and Honda even gave me a new oversize piston kit and head when the original torpedoed at 35,000 miles free of charge. That thing up there is just plain fugly! (Message edited by greenlantern on October 17, 2008) |

Maybe it goes on water? The scooter design is nothing but a Man-Killing, ankle breaking head smashing device. Because of their cutsey designs, every sissy thinks they can ride one, then they ride with shorts, sandals, and helmetless. I should have took a picture of the old guy laying crumpled up in the road in a pool of blood from his head with a scooter tangled in his legs. It was a horrible thing to see. Then my buddy had a scooter go down in his driveway when the thing folded up during a hard braking manuver and when he put his foot down the floorboard trapped his foot and broke his ankle. Where the heck is Ralph Nader when you need him? |

I think scooters are cool (I'd love to have one), but there are two things that freak me out about them: 1.) I really like something I can grip with my knees. 2.) Tiny wheels. Dunno why, but small diameter wheels bother me. Maybe because of all the spills I've taken on inline skates when I nailed a piece of gravel.... ~SM |

then they ride with shorts, sandals I see guys on Harleys like that all the time. I was working by Cal Berkeley And over the last year I see tons of scooters. It's funny to see the college girls in the heels and skirts riding them. Personally I sold the Blast 'cuz it didn't have enough power and I realized that on a motorcycle you really need some get the F* outta the way power. |
