i had tried to buy this picture from an inside pass trackday. cant do it. the computer that they were on crashed and all of the pictures were lost. so my options are slim to none as far as i can see.

this is probably one of my best pictures on the 9 and i would have loved to have it blown up and framed.

is there anyway i can do something with it even though it is small like this. im sure one of the photoshop wizards on here wouldnt have to hard of a time taking the stuff off of the bottom, or i could even crop the picture. but i doubt i can enlarge it and keep any kind of quality?

Is that the size of the original? I mean, pixel-wise?

and how big did you want to print it?

Actually, that bunch of logos on the bottom look added-on anyway. There's a pretty un-natural looking line there.

Depending how big you want to go, Kinkos can do it for you. I've done this before with a picture I wanted to use for a tattoo. They were able to clean the image up as they blew it up....

no this is the copy you could look at while ordering the pics. you were allowed to down load this version for free. the logos were added on and if you ordered the original high rez copy from her it didnt have those logos.

im not sure how much bigger the original size was but im sure it was alot.

as far as the size i want i dont have a specific one, but i was hoping to have something to hang on the wall.

glitches new calender deal got me thinking of this again. i wondered if anyone knew of some options.

The problem is not only the size of picture you have, but it's a compressed file to boot, which means you lose some of the detail above and beyond the smaller size.

Just as an example, the "new" inside pass sample photos are roughly twice the size of the one you posted. I just printed one here at work to hang in my cube and blew it up to fill an 8 1/2-11" sheet of paper. The quality is just barely passable - not all the sharp, but looks fair from a couple feet away.

Best I could do Tim : (
They compressed the hell out of it, I brought it up to 300DPI, but it helped it very little.
I used all my tricks with regards to enlarging, but it was pretty crappy to begin with.
Garbage in, garbage out.
Suck too, I know you would love to have the real thing.
March ain't that far away ; )

Glitch
did you do the 110% increase trick on picks under 1mb.

If you don't know what I am talking about, I will try it when I get home.

I took a 3mb pic that was way under the 210dpi rule and made a poster out of it.

Updates later tonight, unless Glitch already did this.

I did something like that.
Go double using Bicubic.
Then Despeckle.
Then double again and use Diffuse.
Then back down and Unsharp mask.
The down to a size that looks best.
Also while enlarging use the DPI to 200...
You know the drill...

There is software that uses fractals to do quality enlargements. I don't have a copy or I'd do it for you. Here is a link to one I hear is good, but I don't have any personal experience with it. Not worth buying for one photo, but if you could find someone with a copy of it, you might get some good results.

Fractals are fractals they enlarge the noise and compression artifacts as well.
I still had to compress a bit more than I'd like, but I can email you the uncompressed one if you need it.

Still interpolation - no matter how you join the dots.
