Why are you guys so wrapped up in this warranty stuff. I couldn't wait till mine was out of the warranty, so I could do anything with it that I wanted to. The LAST thing I want to do with my bike is to have to take it to the dealer for work. I understand that they try but the difference in how I am treated at my Chevy service shop and the Harley/Buell shops is utterly amazing. A couple of weeks ago I had to have my car in for some work. They called me in the afternoon and said that it wouldn't be done, and then they offered me a loaner for the night. The last time my Buell was in the shop for a shock recall replacement I took it in on a monday and then called them again friday afternoon wondering when I was going to get my bike back. It was done but when I asked when it was finished they said "wednesday". I wonder how long they would have kept it until they would have called. I just expect 'Customer Service Departments' to remember the 'service' part of their name. I don't even want to talk about what they did to Jprovo when he was passing thru. |

Oh, and while we're discussing warranties, let's talk about insurance too. I'm tired of having squids say, "Hey, so what if I wreck it, insurance will cover it." Then they wonder why insurance is so high. It reminds me of when the HD/Buell Cycle Center was running a dyno shootout. A guy came in with a Busa with 125 miles on it. The dyno operator didn't want to run it but the guy said "so what if it blows up, it's still under warranty". We all pay for that type of idiocy. |

Speaking of insurance....my premium with a national company which shall go unnamed (PROGRESSIVE!!!)doubled this year at my renewal. No accidents, no claims, no driving infractions. Just because. Pleased to say I dropped them like a hot potato. Their excuse was "statistics and demographics"- seems like people riding Buells in my locale have been having accidents. Duh! Wouldn't have anything to do with people driving with a cell phone growing out of one ear and the other hand pounding a cheeseburger down their throat? Oh yeah, it seems like they've also discovered a Buell is not a lawn tractor. Anybody else have this problem? I can recommend a better company if you want (saved $300.00/yr.) Interesting fact; when my agent ran my bike as a Buell M2 the premium came up the same as last year. When he punched in the year ('99) and the VIN the premium doubled. Seems the must have figured out that the Thunderstormed M2 cranks out 91 HP. If only they'd read the brochures... Just for snicks, what are some of you all paying? I'd be a little scared to buy an XB due to all this. |

Because this is a serious topic & folks should be aware that their warranty can be compromised by running in B-Trax. If they have a good dealer who is willing to back them..great. But if they have one of the many many shady dealers out there they could be in for a suprise. Also Buell/HD is taking more & more of the "judgement" call warranty cases out of the dealers hands & is handing down replies which arent favorable to the owners. |

>warranty can be compromised by running in B-Trax Just like it can by doing any performance mods to it. >good dealer who is willing to back them broken record. >Also Buell/HD is taking more & more of the "judgement" call warranty cases out of the dealers hands You have internal memos / charts to back this up? |

I think your over dramatizing Dyna, sure if you crash in a Battletrax warranty might be voided that's to be expected, but just participating in it isn't a big deal !! You have to use common sense, you don't do much differently in Battletrax than you do out on the road, including an occasional crash !! Just riding around the course in Battletrax isn't going to hurt your bike so you won't need the warranty for that anyway, if it didn't cause the problem with your bike I don't believe Buell or anyone else is going to say it did !! If you run the hell out of your bike or crash during Battletrax then you'll know it's your fault and can't expect the warranty to fix it !! My 2 cents worth !! CJ

hd has always made the calls on warranty work...just like chevy ford dodge and anybody else. it has always been the manufaturer who makes that call in the end. sometimes a dealership thinks it should be covered than hd says no...well the dealer loses money...thats how its always been. thats why its called the manufacturers warranty and such. its not called a dealers warranty |

BTW thats also why sometimes your dealer says tought crap and then you get on the horn to customer service and it gets taken care of....the manufacture always makes the call |

if it didn't cause the problem with your bike I don't believe Buell or anyone else is going to say it did !! Oh how little you know. When i see you again I will tell you a few things that will open your mind a bit. Has nothing to do with issues being caused directly as a result of participating ina B-trax event. Read your warranty & you will see what i mean. Buell/HD is starting to really get picky about these things. They can & have voided warrantys because of such events. >Also Buell/HD is taking more & more of the "judgement" call warranty cases out of the dealers hands You have internal memos / charts to back this up? Hows this? hd has always made the calls on warranty work Everyone thinks Buell is still some quaint little manufacturer with the mad scientist building bikes in a barn & they will repair your bike under that mythical "goodwill" program forever. Hey guys news flash here, its almost 2004 & HD runs the show & they will do anything & everything they can to maximize profits. If this means screwing the consumer out of his warranty so the factory doesnt eat any repair costs, then so be it.

Gee, do ya think that editing pictures of a dealers billboard to include your glorious middle finger displayed toward them, and posting it on the internet for all to see, may have helped your cause? You probably think it has nothing to do with it. |

I would say running a buell on a dyno would do more harm than battletrax, unless you are constantly burning the rear tire off the bike...what would battletrax do that could void engine warranty? |

Biker: Can you fix my mirror. All the silver has come off the back. Tech: No problem, we've seen this on a couple of bikes. Covered under warranty. Biker: Cool. Tech: Oh wait. I just checked the B-Trax report. Looks as though you ran your bike. Too bad for you. That'll be $50 for a new mirror... |

what would battletrax do that could void engine warranty? Ask Buell. Funny how no anons have popped in here. Tripper, you have your timeline of events messed up. That pic was posted 6 months after my deal. So no it had no bearing at all. |

Why does this even matter? Does ANYONE warranty ANYTHING that is raced? (although a definition of Race would be nice) Please... So what if Buell sponsors the BTrax. They've sponsored various race classes - and I bet your Pro Thunder prepped tuber's warranty expired the first time it hit the track. People, let's not get silly. -Saro |
