You'd be THAT pissed off over a free T-Shirt that you didn't get in what you considered to be a "timely" fashion, for winning a contest that it was FREE to enter, by identifying a location past which you walk your dog on a daily basis, making it almost a non-thinker for you?
The grand total investment in this contest was the time it took to type the response. And click. Twice.
I just can't consider this to be in the same league as ordering parts, paying for them, and then not getting them. This is more akin to meaning to buy someone a beer and forgetting.
Yes, if this is all there is to the story, he should get his shirt. But lets not act like he was harmed in some way. He's suffered NO financial loss, and no real emotional loss, I would assume, anyway.
BUT I have to admit, the response has been quite something. I probably wouldn't have even clicked on this particular thread if the title hadn't been changed to it's present status.
Jeez what a lot of wasted bandwidth.

F.B. and Chellam. Your points are taken and valid, and yes it is a waste of band width. BUT, and Im taking all posts here by Boney as truthfull, no reason not to, Ebear hasnt delivered and is not responding.....its simple, to me any ways, if you aint gonna deliver, dont offer, if you cant deliver for unexplained reasons, inform. Dont just ignore. If you condone that type of behavior(I dont believe for a second you do)you have issues..... |

I have a case of Buell posters here that I was **supposed** to send folks looooooooooooooong ago. (there are logistical considerations buying and transporting a case of those poster tubes from the store home and to the post office in New York City) . . . . I've sent probably a thousand (someone tell me if you think that number is low or high) Buell t-shirts over the years . . . . still owe someone a 1988 Buell Service Manual . . . and have a stack of "to be done" things here on the desk (that's one of the stacks).
Folks have always been kind and understanding and I am never bother, suffering with Courtsheimers when folks (and anyone who has ever dealt with me will tell you that I ASK them to keep bugging me.
It's not a matter, in the instant case, so much about performance than simple manners.
There are folks here that I've had tiffs with over the years . I tend to be wrong a lot and guess I've just acquired an elevated threshold of how much it takes for me to toss a pal under the bus.
A t-shirt falls short of that threshold.
By the way . . . . I should show my wife this thread . . . there are like 15 cases of frickin t-shirts in this basement that need to go! I'll meter my words carefully before I commit to send the next one.

Not for nothing . .. but I'd love to see some of this energy expended on the thread that Bomber is going to present to the family of our friend who was killed.

Last I heard of Eric was back about the 12th when he dropped in on Timbo's brother outa the blue to give a gift for Timbo while he was in the hospital. |

And if one of those shirts was destined for me and I queried you about it,I dont think you would ignore me. According to Boney, this is what has happened. Its pissant, yes, but who ever has the power to change the title of this thread to what it has been changed to...........is pissant as well.

Some are apparently confused about the core issue here. The issue is not that anyone thinks that Eric is excused from not following through on his free t-shirt offer. He absolutely should. That is not the issue of contention that spurred my intervention here.
The issue of contention is that it is absolutely 100% unacceptable for anyone to wage such miserable derisive personal attack here on BadWeB, especially over such a petty insignificant matter. Period.
The thoughtful and honorable (the only acceptable approach on BadWeB) means to broach such concerns publicly on BadWeB NEVER include posting a thread for all the world to see entitled "BadWeb-Ebear, A Man Without His Word...", the original title of this thread, but rather to offer a polite public reminder/inquiry within the applicable thread.
Besides running afoul of our terms of use here, the type of thinking that "I emailed and PM'd EBear but got no response, so now I'll proclaim to all the world that EBear's word is no good" is vindictive, hateful and entirely unthoughtful.
The fact that such a tactic was launched concerning the offer of a free T-Shirt makes it ludicrous. That the offender probably should have rightly excluded himself from the contest in the first place, the truly honorable thing to do in my view, further colors the issue of honor and who here is seen most lacking it.
But the bottom line is that my intervention is simply in keeping with upholding BadWeB's terms of use and helping to remind those who may forget their agreement to honor our terms of use.

Calling someone a "jerk" is infinitely less derisive than to associate their name with a statement like "BadWeB EBear, A Man Without his Word", the original title of this thread attacking Eric. 
If you don't like the rules here or the way we manage the place, you are perfectly free to avoid it. |

That last one was caught by our IT group probably because of the name..(BONEY)
I checked my home computer and NO EMAILS there.
His shirt was mailed in the 3rd or 4th week of July. ...
I'm not able to get on BWB much anymore since our company has restricted most of our access. I don't know what to say. ... I'm completely flabbergasted.
