GL- I find that sexually-ambiguous pic way too disturbing.
I have pretty low Olympic Spirits... when i was a competitive snowboarder, suffice it to say, Snowboarding was NOT an olympic sport, and even the top worldcup champs couldn't eke out a living doing it.
The IOC used to quip about how Snowboarding would "NEVER be an olympic event", which was pretty demoralizing to us all.
i had a long chat about this with shaun White a few years back, and the kid was really, REALLY excited to hear about what he stood to represent, in the sport, were he to take the gold...which he did.
Yeah, ZERO here as well. But I feel that way about most sports... football, basketball, golf, you name it. The only sports that can hold my attention for more than 30 seconds are the ones that involve internal combustion.
Or swords. But you don't find those on TV very often.
Back when they had amateurs competing in the Olympics I had a real good Olympic spirit, but now with all the pro athletes, media selected featured favorites and sponsors ads. I really have no interest in them. It once was a time when an athlete would train his life for the opportunity to represent his country and all events got some sort of coverage so that athletes efforts would not go unnoticed. Yes I do know that the Eastern Block countries had professional athletes, but I guess their armed services had one hell of an athletics programs, but that is also what made the true amateurs victory even greater when defeating them. Any one remember 1980 Lake Placid. I know Spidey should.

Ahhh yes 1980, fresh out the womb and a bunch of college kids nobody knew defeated a whole nation with nothing more than a wooden stick and a black piece of vulcanized rubber!
Olympics?? What Olympics? Is there an Olympics going on?
Guess that rates me 0/10.
Most likely won't watch any of it. Don't have much time for TV these days. Besides, the way the Olympics were covered last time it woasn't worth bothering. There was more time spent on the back stories than there was on the events.
Winter Olympics are a bit more interesting for me. I like the couples figure skating, ski jumping, luge and curling.
My wife is a huge fan of the olympics- she likes it for every reason I do not. The complete over-blown coverage of gymnastics, track and field, and swimming. I prefer the sports with less attention given and therefore I often find athletes who are closer to the definition of what I think an olympic athlete should be. I really like the back stories of these obscure athletes (Rulon Gardner, big old farm boy who won olympic gold defeating Alexander Karelin in 2000.) I know I am in the minority... and accept it.
Well, I like the Olympics. The athletes are amazing. The amount of training they put in is unbelievable. The dedication they have is tremendous. On top of that the Olympics is the only time many of the sports get any attention at all. I wish I had half the flexibility and athleticism of a gymnast or the endurance of a triathlete, or the strength of a powerlifter.
