I did something very similar with my S3. What did you use for the lenses? I got an old tail light from a junk yard and used the Dremmel to cut the pieces. The screens made a great template.

Where are you locating your plates? I had a friend of a friend make me a nice aluminum bracket that I attached where the old bracket was mounted.

Good job (IMHO)

I kind of like it!
Might be something I try on my S2.
Can you shoot some closer pics?
Also like Lake asked, what lenses did you use?
Details, man, details!!!

Nice job, very clean looking...

I used the lenses that were on the existing turn signals. I too used a dremel and a cut-off wheel. I made a paper template around the vents and traced the outline of the template on the lenses with a sharpie marker.I also used the template to get an idea of how to cut down the inside reflectors of the original signals. I used 2 small bolts and mounted them to the vent screens with an inch or so of threads pointed towards the motor. Then I drilled holes in the reflectors and secured them to the small bolts. The lense covers are secured to the screens with clear silicone. The reason I did it this way is so I could change the bulbs by taking the lamps free from the mount bolts. It's a little rigged but it works fine and looks pretty good. The tag can be mounted where ever with some small L brackets. Rear view of S2 with intergrated signals

Or just get a turnsignal intergrater and make your two brakelight/turnsignals like I did on my S-2.

The turn signals look outrageously good. Great creativity; they look like they should have been designed that way. And kudos for reusing the old lenses!

The only problem would be if you get a nitpicker enforcer who knows the DOT/DMV regulations for turn signal spacing. I know lots of customs and sportbikes have customized spacing, but it's still an issue. But still, I do like it also and may consider it for my bike.

Crusty: I hate it when that happens.

I really don’t think that the size of my blinkers would make a bit of difference to the dim bulb behind the wheel of the SUV. High mount break lights don’t stop cars from being rear ended and flashing blue lights don’t keep cop cycles from being crushed.

The obvious answer is that the SUV driver isn’t half blind, but that she (or he) just isn’t looking at traffic, or isn’t paying attention to what her face is pointed at. I think a combination of mandatory driver education and much stiffer penalties is the answer to this dilemma.

Or how about this for an idea: What if we remove illegal drivers from the road. I’d bet that one out of every four drivers on the road today doesn’t have a valid drivers license, insurance, or a car that would pass a safety or smog inspection. Furthermore, I’ll wager that this group of drivers is responsible for a hugely disproportionate number of accidents. Off with their heads!

My wife was sitting at a red light on her Sportster last May when she was rear ended by a dimwit who was looking at the flower stand off to the side of the intersection. We've been battling with the insurance company since. They totalled the bike, but we haven't received a cent yet. BIG, flashing neon strobe lights wouldn't have helped prevent the accident. I realize that you should never underestimate the power of human stupidity, but I want all the help I can get. Big turn signals probably won't help a bit; there is a small chance that they might, though. It really sucks when you come home and find out that your wife and daughter are in a hospital.

Cool taillight treatment! I did mine on my S2 in the winter of 1995. Unfortunately I didn't realize how easily it could be done, fortunately you figured out how easily it could be accomplished. I ended up (luckily) finding some scrap transparent amber plastic sheet at a plastic supply house, and used the diffraction covering from a ceiling light cover to create my front and rear turn signals lenses. The rear are perfectly flat, while the front ones had to be 'heat-persuaded' to get to the right curvature. For the turnsignals, I used chopped down S1 taillights 'glassed into the bodywork. I figured as long as I was going custom (and moving the turn signals closer to other light sources - headlight and taillight) that I should also increase the intesity of the turn signals.
