I went on this really kickbutt run one year in New York. Sleeping arangements were made, airport pick up and drop off, quite a bit of riding. Attack cats, man eater cats and a cat that would play in the sink with water splashing all over him. Quite fun, I hope to go to that same run this year. The best part. Buells aplenty. I was even able to meet up with a couple other cool peeps:

Wow, this all started with me asking if you went to Homecoming. Tramp getting a bit defensive. But honestly Tramp, you may want to stop now. You have *0* clue what homecoming is about. But I'm sure you'll claim otherwise, being the expert on all subjects. But you're DEAD friggin wrong on the homecoming thing. The vast majority of folk come for the camaraderie. Just tonight I got to meet Slaughter for the 1st time. Along with Crusty, his wife Terry, and his daughter Andrea. Great folk, good food, and a decent ride to meet 'em. How can it get better that that? |

Homecoming is just an excuse to put a face to all the names we know here. It's a social thing and one of these years I'll be able to make it there. I'm all for doing it at least once in my life time. I remember last year at Laguna Seca meeting a few BadWeBers. It was the highlight of my weekend there. |

"or save the name-calling for face-to-face time." Sounds like a threat to me. Again, grow up. Now as Ft Bstrd has asked. I will leave this way out of control, retarded thread alone. See some of you at HOMECOMING. Those not going, have a good 4th. |

Ok Gentlemen, I have performed major surgery on this thread. It's still on the table and could code at any time. If it doesn't stop, it'll get deleted all together. Like my dad used to say, "if I have to come back in here, you aren't going to like it". The miserableness that has pervaded this board as of late is becoming tiresome. Someone might think we were deep in the middle of January winter. Go friggin' ride. If this behavior doesn't stop, there will be temporary suspensions followed by permanent suspensions. This isn't personal. This is moderating. We don't care if you've been on the board here for 5 years or for two weeks. We will swing the ban hammer. Tramp Bads1 Badlionsfan Steve_macay Rocketsprink We clear? Think about WHAT you say as well as HOW you say it. You can disagree with someone's viewpoint without posting in a manner that instantly invokes a prickly response. It isn't what you say as much as how you say it. Don't believe me? Yell at your dog is a loud menacing voice "I HAVE A GIANT JUICY STEAK FOR YOU!" and see if he doesn't run the other way. |

"It's a social thing and one of these years I'll be able to make it there." I believe the folks last year got the first taste of the 1125r. Homecoming is a huge social event, but there's techinal seminars, rides, races...it's more than just a party. I got a feeling that this year something new is gonna be announced. |

Duc- the headless horseman Run will be the last weekend before Hallowe'en, as always. I look forward to seeing you there, this year, again. Ft-Bstrd: If you want to ban me for stating my sincere opinions, even though I called No one any names, and didn't threaten anyone, please go ahead and do so. Your idea that how a person posts causes 'prickly responses" is inane. If every badwebber had to tiptoe about on eggshells, desperately trying to telegraph the exact emotional response that every forum-crybaby will have, we'd have nothing but dull platitudes to deal with, here. More members need to f=grow the hell up and realize that not everyone will agree with you. that's life- taking it personally is lame, name-calling is simply miserable. maybe more people need to realize that others won't always agree with them on everything. We're all supposed to be adults here, and if some people can't deal with someone stating that they don't attend factory rallies due to the spoon-fed nature, they need to reassess their ability to roll with it. Wanna ban someone for simply disagreeing? Feel free. (Message edited by tramp on July 01, 2008) |

There has always been and will always be an open arena for the sharing and debating of ideas here in BadWeb. NO ONE has ever been removed because someone disagreed with them. NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON. We are the strongest proponents of debate here, as Moderators. However, there is a difference between disagreeing with someone's position and willful incitement of vitriol. Example: "I completely disagree with your position. Here's why...." "That's the dumbest idea I've ever heard." Both statements convey disagreement with the idea. One encourages further discussion and the other guarantees no further discussion other than personal attacks. When one has a style that is confrontational in nature, they usually tend to get confrontational replies. One can not utilize the second mode of communication and then complain that "everyone is out to get them". One can not simply dictate that the listener need to grow a thicker skin and "roll with it". That isn't how the world works and it isn't how BadWeb works. THIS THREAD got WAY out of hand. It got way down the road unobserved by the Mod Squad. In that, WE, the moderators, are to blame. That said, it is all our responsibilities to be "adults here". My kids use the "he started it" gambit. They are 5 and 8. I'm pretty sure the ages here are more than 5 or 8. Just because a particular thread isn't being "moderated" at any particular moment, it isn't an opportunity to run amuck. The only real tool with teeth we as moderators have is the suspension of participation in BadWeb. We can PM people, call people, write them letters, send them flowers, whatever, but if behaviors don't change our only real offensive weapon is to suspend folks. If anyone is banned, it won't be for someone disagreeing with them. It will be for continuous and willful violations of BadWeb rules of behavior and conduct of decorum after repeated requests for adherence. |

Original Post's question : "...Does this mean that of the thousands of people registered on BadWeB that a small number, those making the attendee roll call, are the noisiest and perhaps happiest Buell owners?" My response to this question : "I'm not into these factory-generated spoon-feeding sessions... I'll be out in the twisties racing my own goddam zeitgeist" If you consider this honest response inciteful, you need to lighten up. |
