I've never been all that big on STP, but I went to a concert in Toledo quite a few years back, where they had Disturbed and Godsmack opening for them (which were who I went for).

Disturbed was awesome, Godsmack sucked balls live...and STP was PHENOMENAL. Amazing live performance.

I've been to plenty o' concerts, and the STP show i saw on the Tiny music.... CD tour was my favorite concert. balloon drops, clowns running around and flying across the stage on cables, and santa and few elves (it was two weeks before christmas) and you had one hell of a show.

the one coming up in cleveland is the day before my birthday.

I've see Disturbed twice and have walked out early both times. All their songs sound the same which is Godsmack's problem live to an extent. I wish the Guitarist from Godsmack would just step away from the wah-wah or whatever he uses for a song or two. I saw Disturbed with Stone Sour, Flyleaf and Nonpoint opening for them about a year ago. All 3 opening bands blew them out of the water in my opinion, especially Stone Sour.

STP has always put on a great show when I have seen them.

+1 w Darthane:

Was never a fan till I saw them live. Their live music sounds way better than their CD stuff.

+1 on Godsmack and Disturbed being a total borefest IMO. Marilyn Manson, 311, Ministry and GWAR (seen em 5 times) put on a helluva show. Manson was especially entertaining when I saw them play in Salt Lake City. Hmmm....I wonder why. lol.

How'd you like Nonpoint, Damnut?
Theyre one of my faves. When I worked at the radio station that was one of the cd's that mysteriously vanished when I left.
(i left a copy so they'd still get airplay)

Another band id love to see is Taproot.

I've always enjoyed Nonpoint, they were good live as well. I've been listening to them since their first album.

Been listening to a lot of Stone Sour and Mudvayne for some reason lately.

I saw godsmack several years ago and thought it was a decent show.

the gwar show is really funny. kinda a modern kiss maybe? saw them one time in 1997, wasn't "clear-headed" in those days.

some other shows i really enjoyed was smashing pumpkins (one week exactly before their keyboard player OD'd on heroin and effectively ended their run with the original line up) was the loudest concert i've been to, Filter (richard patrick is a local boy, very high energy show), weezer with tenacious d and jimmy eat world was a good time, pearl jam is great live. powerman 5000 is a really good show. there were others, but STP was my favorite.

The one band that i never got to see and really wish i could've was Alice In Chains. they're my favorite band from the seattle scene, but the chance of a reunion ended in one of the saddest stories in music IMO.

You know alice in chains has a new lead singer right? Sure hes no Lane, but he does a damn good job at singing those songs. I highly recomend seeing them if you get the chance, and see them if they are the headliner. I saw them in 2006 i think, and they played for almost 3 1/2 hours. It was one of the best shows ive been to.

yeah they had a rotation of different singers. not interested. the vocal harmonies with Lane and Jerry were what defined there sound, and that will never be duplicated.

The new singer with AIC is really good. I've seen them 3 times with the new guy and they still kick ass. No Lane but then again, Lane ain't coming back.

Who is singing for STP? Is it the original lineup? I remember seeing them on MTV Unplugged. You really got to see what an incredible band they were.

Have any of you ever listened to Mad Season's one disc, Above?

It may be the most played CD in my collection.

Play it right after you listen to Alice in Chains CD, Dirt. It shows a brilliant guy being slowly killed by heroin. One CD really puts the other in perspective.

G234146- +1 on Skinny Puppy. I was a little "clouded" back then too. Sunshine through the windowpane...wierd times indeed.
Re: The ministry show... Ogre was on stage during Ministry's set messin around. Chris from Revco showed up and sang "So What" and the whole place effin' erupted.
Body Count worked the door for that show then played a long ass set since Helmet was supposed to play, but got into a car accident.
Sepultura opened that show. Talk about an agression release...

I mustve thrown a million punches that night.

Damnut- "A World So Cold" is one of my favorite Mudvayne songs and anything from Stone Sour is the ish.

Best rock concert I've ever seen was STP on the Tiny Music tour at Universal Amphiteatre. I cannot believe how SPOT EFFING ON the crew had been about supporting the band. PERFECT sound - something I've never said about a rock show. Amazing energy. Fantastic stage(s). And very good performances. Also, the obligatory wasteoid puking disconcertingly close to your party... Oddly enough, I've seen STP a couple of times after than and thought they blew chunks, thouh I can totally relate to being in a hot / cold band.

I always thought STP could have been the next HUGE rock band - on the order of the Beatles, Zep, etc. I do have my doubts about Weiland's abilities to write if he's not on opiates, though.

Incidentally, we used to bump into Dean DeLeo ALL THE TIME at a Starbuck's in Malibu. Super nice cat. "10 degree drop when you ride the scooter." It was a chilly day, I guess.

Funny thing was the night Loli and I went to Marie Calendar's in Sherman Oaks to grab some dessert. As we were walking in, we say some scrawny dude walking around with a guy that looked JUST LIKE SLASH. Well, a couple of weeks later, the Velvet Revolver project got announced. We just sorta looked at each other and busted up.

Fun stuff.
