If the order could be moved up a week, maybe a guy could bring it to Homecomming.
Anything you boys (Court & Dave) can do?

We have no control over printing. Whitehorsepress.com is giving a ship date of June 2008. They may be shipping a little earlier than Amazon as they are the actual publisher. The are offering the same price as Amazon so you might try and order there.

"I'll bet that 90% of the traffic is generated by <200 folks."

My big chance for a windfall has finally arrived! What would you be willing to bet on that Court? Are you wondering if I'm still living and trying to bait a reply or what?

In February, BadWeB served up approximately 2.26 million pages. If 90% of that is attributable to less than 200 folks, then each of those folks on average would need to have browsed through more than 10,000 pages each month. The math follows:

2.26E+06 pages * 90% / <200>10,170 pages each month.

Even I don't come anywhere close to that level of activity here. Who has the time?

Further, even assuming that your estimated "<200 folks" are surfing the BadWeB every single day of the month--I sure don't--that amounts to 339 pages per day, every single day. Again, even I don't come close to that level of activity here myself. Who has the time?

We currently have over 1,200 active BadWeBrs who have elected to receive emailings of board posts.

In the past 30 days, 2,331 registered users have logged-in to BadWeB. A greater number have visited without bothering to login.

In the past 365 days a cool 5,902 registered BadWeBrs have logged-in on BadWeB.

The BadWeB server employs a file compression scheme which reduces the bandwidth from 40% to 50%. The actual html content being served is thus much greater than what bandwidth figures show. Prior to implementing the compression scheme in mid-August 2007, our BadWeB server had hit a high of 193,644,870 KB (193.7 GB) per month in content served.

Thanks for the opportunity and impetus to review our stats and share the good news.

Dave, you once inquired about sponsorship in order to promote the book here. What happened to that?

I just ordered mine direct from the publisher. It sure would be great if your publisher could see fit to sponsor our little community of Buell enthusiasts here.

If not, then just send me a banner, we'll put it up, just like we did for your photo sale.

The current tally of registered active BadWeBrs is closer to 13,000, not 15,000, but with between 200 and 300 new registered users every month, we'll soon crest the 15K mark. We do periodically cull inactive accounts which may explain the disparity between your 15K and the current tally of registered active BadWeBrs.

Hmmm... I thought I was doing the 'right thing' by ordering my 4 copies (1 for the aforementioned Frank, 1 for my buddy Scott in Frankfurt, 1 for my reading/reference copy, and an extra 'just in case') from the Whitehorse Press.

I guess the way to go more mainstream is to go more mainstream...

Blake, I will hit him up again, he just got back from vacation which was well deserved after the made rush to get their spring catalog out. I think he should pop for the few hundred dollars it would take. Sales from here have likely already paid for the thing.

Brankin, no worries on where you buy, Whitehorse makes a little more when you buy from them but Amazon gives them wider exposure so either way is OK.

I wonder how long we can stay at the top? We are still number 1 in Motorcycle history but have fallen to number 2 in Transportation. We remain in the top 2000 overall.

Doesn't amazon have an affiliate program? I believe newenough does as well.

If the sponsorship rules ever get updated, that should be considered.

>>>we'll soon crest the 15K mark.

That's an accurate statement and thanks for taking the bait and doing my demographic research for me . . . . Engineers are so gullible since they branched out from just driving trains!

: )

It's wild . . . and, assuming that just a splinter of those afourmentionatiated Badwebbers order up. . . Dave, on the cusp of being jobless and me. . . well, just lazy by nature, will be smoking fine Cubans (Rich C tell them about the tradition that Johnny Mikosh and I have observed for 20 years at Homecoming) and flying about in the Elf-Jet.

By the way . . . I'll ante up for the ad . . I think it's only fair to insure a uniform application of the rules. In the meantimean Dave and I will continue working on the publicator . . ever tired to convince anyone in New Hampshire of anything?

By the way . . . for those of you, long familiar with the "Mature Adult Father Gess" . . I've gotta tell you . . . when you read his tale of the S-1 you'll be spewing coffee all over your screen. In the meantime, you can start guessing what manufacturers came to Buell rescue to make certain the S-1 was able to attend it's own birthday????

Cool stuff!

Brankin, don't let those copies leave the country before you talk to me.

Court

I ordered mine yesterday from the publisher and immediately received an e-mail say it was on back order. They made it clear during the order process that it wouldn't be available until June, but the e-mail said it was on back order until 5/2/08.

Weird.

It just, within the last 10 days, actually went to the printers. I understand this is generally a 3 month process but I wouldn't be surprised if they come through quicker.

I ordered one too.

"I understand this is generally a 3 month process."

Nothing should take three months to print and bind. How many copies are being run? The longest part of the process, as many Buell owners have found out,is shipping the product to dealers.

13,000 to 15,000 members? Isn't that close to 10% of all the Buells made so far? Maybe we should be 10%ers?

Well, I ordered mine.. and if the Gods smile on this tome.. I'll have it in time for the 25th.. and then, I can try to hunt down Court and Dave for the (hopefully) complimentary customization via signatures.

I can't wait for it, I really want to finally get some of these stories Court keeps wanting us to remind him to tell us sometime..

I'm stoked for this book. If Court's and Dave's enthusiasm on this board are any indication of how good the book is going to be, I'm sure it'll be a hit.

Congrats on the project fellas.

Buellin, I think the process is long mostly because of getting in the schedule. The printer orders paper when they have approved page files in hand as well as an order. It takes a few weeks for the paper to show up and it takes a couple of weeks for the books to make to the warehouse from the printer. Some of the time is in the proofing and approval process, this can take a couple of weeks also.

It should be shipping in plenty of time for Homecoming.

We paln to have books there for sale.
