Ken,
Fortunately for you the numbers for not having sex and not seeing your girl match, othewise you'd be in trouble :)
Hope you're home soon and remember, an oven is a "dry heat" too, so don't believe that bs.
oh, and since you have computer access, but no TV, ping me if you want the last season of Buffy on DVD shipped over to you - coworker has a ReplayTV

RANT: Speed Channel "Two Wheel Tuesday" yesterday:

(1) AMA Springfield TT: There is but one Harley (with a Rotax motor and called a Buell by the TV guy Despane). Didn't make the final. Hondas dominate. There was an XB9S on the sideline getting picked up by the camera angle a few times. Is this how Buell advertises?

(2) Too much is attention given to the BMW's that are raced in the Boxer Cup. Why on Earth is the AMA(RA) going with German bikes? Doesn't the A in AMA stand for American?

btw, next week they will show Sportsters at Springfield.

Winter sucks worse than work.
Belt drive sucks worse than chain drive.
Formula USA races suck worse than AMAPR races.
Powdered coffee lightener sucks worse than cream.
Plastic bags suck worse than paper bags.

plastic bag part 2. sitting still trying to make a left turn across two lanes when big stinking, thick, clear plastic bag comes tumbleweeding across the street directly into my header pipes! sweet smell and a lovely look. scraped it off with my buck knife and now need ceramic coating in a bad way. plastic bags do bite!

The used bike market sucks. Unless you're willing to sell your bike for half what the individual parts would sell for it's hard to sell a complete Buell. The engines seem to go for between $2000-$3000 on E-Bay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=35572&ite m=2421020775

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=35572&ite m=2422130395

Some people are selling complete running fair condition Buell twins for $3000-$5000. Makes it very tempting to start dismantling and parting. Maybe I'll just stick the 1961 Panhead gas tank logos I have on the Buell tank, then maybe it will sell.
Rant off.

Some times no matter how cool it looks I wish Buell would have put the shock somewhere else. I was out riding today when an unexpected speed bump occurs and of course you guesed it SCRAAAAPE!!! My poor Penske. After careful inspection it looks like the black end pieces took all of the scrape no major damage. Just wanted to add my 2cents

This is the Curse Thread so here goes,

SHIT, DAMM, FUCK, FUCK, FUCK, DAMM and any others I can think up but am way too pissed to type.

2nd drive belt now broken - appears as if a rock was picked up.

Does anyone know what the spacers and parts are to convert to chain drive are?

If so please e-mail me so I can get the bike back on the road.

Damm Belts should not be allowed on nice bikes like this one. Damm Achilles Heel of the Buell World that belt drive is. Erik if your listening - Please convert the new ones to chain to stop the aggravation for the new owners.

The sad thing is that after the belt broke I stopped by the Honda retailer (OH MY GOD I said the H word) who was having their test ride day and took out a new ST1300. I can almost say the S1 could have been history very quickly but the Honda just did not have any character.

Don't get me going about the Stock Carbon Fiber Rear Fender packing it in as well this week, vibrations from the bike cracked the damm thing in half.

That sucks moose tits, or mouse tits if you're currently banging your head on the floor in frustration.

Start here:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=3842&post=119883#POST 119883

Then go here:
http://www.americansportbike.com/clickcartpro/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?pg=store&sub_pg =prod&ref=226

Then pack a couple of cans of chain lube in your baggage. Or just buy my M2, it's still on the original belt. ;)

My tires are worn out.
My axle "tool" is broken.
The axle is so tight I broke my tool.
yes I took the pinch pin out
The dealer wants $70 (if you buy an OEM tire from them) to mount and balance a new tire.
The dealer wants $180 for OEM tires (Parts Guy:"Got 8 on hand" Me:"No $#!T I wonder why";)
The axle is so tight I broke my tool.

I can put Honda stickers on the M2 gas tank if you'd prefer Newf. ;)

What's the problem with the S1 now? Working on replacing the drive belt (and replacing the belt guards if they're missing), or are you working on the chain conversion?

Glitch,
I assume you've loosened the belt pulley tensioner before trying to remove the wheel, right? Probably so, but figured I should ask anyways.

Yes, thanks for asking.
I think maybe the "tool" is the problem. It looks kinda like a long nut, with a groove cut in the middle for a "C" clip. I broke clean as you please as soon as pressure was applied. BFH...ya know, I got one of these, and it's a good thing it was outta reach last night. Of course "We have to order one of those"...I gave the two halves to a friend to be welded, as I couldn't find a nut or bolt the same size to make my own "tool".
I let ya know what happens after I get home tonight.

Where'd you get the "tool" from? I couldn't find any tools with a short search on the Buell site. All I find under maintenance is bike covers, and it's kind of hard to work on a bike that's under a cover.
CruzTools doesn't seem to list the XB specific kit yet either.

Mike,

The XB axle nut that Glitch is referring to is standard equipment with the XBs. It comes with the little 'tool kit' that comes with the bikes.

Mine's still kicking, though, and between that, a set of hex keys, two Leathermans and a small crescent wrench, I'm set for whatever that bike can do to me that's within the realm of roadside fixing. I need to add zipties, though, and damned but that trunk is too small for a roll of duct tape...

I still remember an old toolkit I saw on an old bike years ago, one of them metal ones that clamped/bolted onto the frame. Inside was a partial roll of black electrical tape, some slightly rusty bailing wire, and two dimes.

Glitch,

Front or rear tire worn out? You do know the front axle is left hand thread right?

See your dealer, have them call Buell. They have the number for tech service.

Left Hand Thread,

ONLY for me reading a recent post on how someone buggered up the countershaft bolt I'd have never thought of it being a left hand thread either.

Anyway,

Fuck the Honda - "It has no character, no personality, no soul" To quote a friend who rides a Honda CBR F4i, she calls the S1 a "Saucy Bitch" - S1 is back on the road - ripping up the pavement.

Chains are Good and Belts SUCK around here anyway - way too much road resurfacing this year

There is a lot of road re-surfacing going on up this way. I think they are getting ready for the Targa Car Competition - Targa Newfoundland thats going on in September. Anyway Road Re-surfacing leads to picked up rocks - broken belts.

Front or rear tire worn out?
Yes ...
But I'm only having trouble with the rear.
Well, trouble finding time, Coke has laid off so many people, it's hard to put in a short 8 hour day (but that's another rant).
I'm getting my welded tool this afternoon.
Buell says that I have to buy the tool kit, can't buy just the tool, so, if anyone out there has a way to machine a better tool (makin' it better wouldn't be hard) maybe there's an opportunity there...

Yeah Spidey,

The chain is on.

Big Ass 530 chain and two sprockets.

I am getting a bit of noise but thats where the chain is hitting the swingarm block. I have to fabricate a teflon rub plate and mount it to the top of the block. That should save the wear on it.

Other than that it appears to be alright.
