No bike and then this shit happens last night, Dont know how long the recoup time is going to be as I cant walk right now and it's pretty deep, I am off for a while though and can lend a hand if needed. Gang fight leads to cop stabbing Newburgh – A Newburgh City Police officer is recuperating at home after being stabbed in the thigh early Saturday morning. Police Lt. Charles Broe said it is believed the melee was the result of ongoing gang warfare between the Barrio Benkard Kings and La’Eme gang. Officer Richard Hammer was stabbed in the thigh with a serrated pocketknife that was recovered when policed arrested a suspect. Suspects also kicked and struck the officer from behind. Hammer is recuperating at home after having his wound closed with surgical staples. Hammer had observed 12 to 15 people ganging up on another man on Mill Street at 1:45 a.m. He tried to intercede and break up the fight as the gang beat and kicked the victim in the head and torso. The victim was ultimately taken to Westchester Medical Center with multiple stab wounds and a bleeding lung. Police officers who responded for backup were able to catch the two leaders of the fight. Charged with gang assault on a police officer and assault in the first degree was Edison Godinez, 17, of Newburgh. Emanuel Flores, 20, also of Newburgh, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and fifth degrees. Police seized 1.8 grams of cocaine. Lt. Broe said on behalf of Police Chief Eric Paolilli, the department is extremely proud of Officer Hammer in protecting the victim from further injuries and for bravery while he was being attacked. Broe said Godinez admitted to stabbing the victim and the officer because he did not want to be arrested. | ||

Newburgh cops are friggin TOUGH! I stayed up there all last summer for work. While on an exploratory cruise of the area one afternoon, I wandered into the wrong neighborhood, and saw a bunch of crackhead-looking guys in a scuffle. Then came the gunshots! Needless to say, I hit the gas and never went back there. Newspaper says theres a PCP problem in town. Would NOT want to fight somebody on PCP! Take care of yourself Hammer. Glad your(relatively) O.K. The "powers that be" should recognize that you deserve a trip to MBV. | ||
