Good eye. It's a '69. The little one actually prefers to ride Buells though. She really liked the wife's Scg...but I totaled that on the way to work one day. I'm sure she will appreciate the Beezer when she's old enough to kick it over. | ||

I taught my little brother to ride mine when he was 14 - but I required that he could start it. I never upped the compression by taking out the plate, so it wasn't bad to start. He did learn where TDC was! There's a whole lotta folks who can't relate to Amal carbs, tickler valves and exhaust valve lifters any more. | ||

WOW . . . you've obviously heard me tell the tale of the cheerleaders so I'll spare you. It, even in my sunset years, is a conditioned response that reminds me of Pavlov that name ring a bell? and his dog . . . I see the BSA 441 Victor and I get sweaty palms and remember dreaming that someday I'd have a motorcycle. The corollary is that the same week Mike Dutton (the "big kid" across the street who got the Victor got it I got my first Gibson electric guitar. Of course, I was an idiot and sold the guitar for $100 so I'd have likely fared no better with the Victor. That is one great looking bike and a dandy looking kidlet! Thanks for the great feeling! Court P.S. - I see peeking in your garage that we may soon share another vice . . . I went "looking" last week.  | ||

A friend of mine had a Victor of about the same vintage. I loved it! He told me if I could get it started in 20 kicks, I could ride it. I didn't get to ride it. I'm still bummed about it. I had a '78 Yahama XT500E for about a year. Rode it to work a lot, 25 miles each way, and loved it. One of the most fun bikes I've ever had. It would be like a Victor that was easy to start, no oil leaks, was dead reliable, but had no soul. Hey Court, did I ever mention that I have a both a T-90 *and* a S-90 in the basement? Jack | ||

You guys are killing me . . . I've been trolling eBay for a good S90 or a Cub 50. There used to be places that restored Cubs. Tell ya what . . . I have the same attachment I had to the '57 Chevy, '67 SS396 and on and on . . . | ||

I had an SR500 for several years, and offered a ride to all my friends, "IF" they could start it. Of course I didn't exactly give them any tips. Never gave a ride. Funny to watch one determined guy kick it about 30 or 40 times, and then I kick it twice (had to clear out the carb you know) and start it right up. I would love one of those Victors, when I was about 12 my dad's best friend gave me a ride on his, wheelies and all. I still remember that ride. Someday I'm going to get a bigger garage... | ||

My first new bike was a SR500. Cafe racered it - drop bars, bikini fairing. Ran it into the ground in 8 months. Melted the oil ring. Did a big end. Cool lookin' thing though. | ||

Yeah Court, I can't take credit for the other toy in the garage. It's my dad's. The restoration of the Victor is why my mom doesn't have new furniture in the living room. The 'little black bastard' in the garage didn't put my dad any better in mom's books, either. How's you guitar collection doing, Court? | ||

Hey . . your Dad is tops in my book! Actually . . . we're having to learn some news techniques . . . the old "Erik had it shipped here" isn't working any more and since the "incident" with the amplifier I have to be careful. At present . . I'm trying a new twist and am sending a 1972 J-40 back to Gibson for a complete restoration. the J-40 . . . just my luck. . is the one guitar Gibson ever made that frankly just didn't become a collectible with time. The upside is that, like the J-45, Hummingbird and J-5, it's a really good guitar which is pretty much what I want out of it. My current objects of infatuation are the Taylor LKSM tuned to C# (ya gotta hear it to believe it) and the Gibson CS-339. Guitars are like motorcycles in so many ways . . . each has an element of performance showcased in pure art. That Victor is just a classic looking bike. . . | ||

About 20 years ago I just about bought an early 70's sunburst Les Paul Custom with the soap bar pick-ups. At the time I couldn't justify the $600 bucks. It was a beauty and I played it on one of my band's demo tapes. It made me sound better than I was. What a guitar. If I could only go back in time. | ||

I fell better now, too. Jumping of a buddies roof in tandem onto a trampoline also makes for a difficult landing - especially when you get double bounced even higher than said roof. The paraplegia only lasted a few minutes, but the idea that I could keep what I thought would be a permanent paralysis from my mom still makes me laugh. Still don't know how I made it to adulthood. Some are probably surprised I make it to the next week. | ||

Nah it had plent of oil - just cooked it. Byron Bay to Sydney in 7 hours - including a breakdown for a busted chain tensioner that had to be welded up in Port Macquarie. All because I had the sh*ts with woman. | ||

Court, have you heard of the Guitar Factory in Orlando Florida? www.guitarfactory.us They are two guys that restore Gibson (and others) guitars. I know very little about guitars, they were a client of mine years back when they were feature on a PBS special on NOVA i think. These guys also hand make custom guitars for many famous players (including Jimmy Buffet). There web site does not feature their restorations however you might get a glimpse of severl les paul models in the back ground. I am told these guys are masters. be good | ||
