What about "production customs"? Is the new new Rocker or Vegas Jackpot a poser bike as well?

They are made to resemble choppers but were never "chopped".

What if someone takes something old and repaints it? How about taking an old bike/car with matching serials and dropping in a new engine? I'd say THAT is the bigger travesty.

What about taking a pristine S3T and parting it out so that you can get the engine and transmission?

It's old, right? Should gut it?

I grow another foot and loose a lot of weight every time I log on.... I do love the look of it, but wouldnt do it to a new bike, but hell its his money. Now I hope he RIDES it and doesnt just cart it in a lowered old truck. If he puts 10k miles on that bike in a year, that will take him out of the poser category

hmmmmm some people spend thousands to make an old bike look new while others spend thousands
to make their new bike look old.

If we all liked exactly the same things it would be a BORING world!

Just try to appreciate the fact that someone had a vision for what they wanted and saw it
through to completion. Even if you don't like the style you have to admire the attention
to detail the guy had/has.

not sure how having a myspace equates to being a poser or has anything to do with making a new bike look old and beat up...i guess cityxslicker is a poser too then..and many other people here more than a few of them are on my friends list...as usual having an opinion here is just a chance for some to be d!cks....the bike still looks stupid....IMO ....an old style bike is a little different in my book then something made to look like its beat to hell and gone...so hey typeone u might as well work ur way through my myspace and let every single one of them know they are posers along with me k....

medicine not taste so good, huh?

calling that guy a poser x1000 without even knowing him because you don't agree with his bike style is just as silly as me calling you a poser for having a MySpace account. both comments, ridiculous.. .

http://www.myspace.com/thetwistededge :P actually I sell a few bikes from being up on there. Also through my networking with Avon and a couple of divorce attorneys. What ever it takes to meet/greet/find and help that next pedestrian to become a rider. I make no bones that people were riding before I was, and that many more have WAY more experience than I do, but I have fun doing this. The day that ends, will be my last one.

Dude.

"Lighten up Frances"

Having an opinion is part of life and part of the game. Having to hear the opinions of others (and potentially putting yourself at the center of the ridicule and joking of others) is the price of voicing that opinion.

We are joking with you. If you swing the hammer, expect others do swing in kind.

dj, it took a little riding to get used to it but after 30 miles or so, it really wasn't that bad. the wife took it out for a little today around the neighborhood and also my son and they said they could get used to it. btw, i'll be getting the m2 back next weekend.

the good thing about this thread will be is that by next week it will be so far down the rung that no one will care what this guy did, then there will be something else to argue about.

Instead of a myspace account, I would prefer an entire website as an homage to myself.

this is the bike for the wife dj. although we're leaving it back in tampa i'm sure the daughter will ride it. even the son liked it although he doesn't think he would give up his 636 for it.

I tried one of those. The mid controls put my knees above the tank. I couldn't get used to it.

They said that they could fit forward controls, but I don't think I could get used to the "Gyno Chair" riding position.

I love the looks of it though.

yea, the white walls would really make it look sweet. i used to have a 60 chrysler saratoga back when i was in the navy that had the gangster whitewalls on it. stationed in baltimore i had a lot of brothers druelling over that car.

as far as the ride goes ft, you got a few inches on me anyhow but it did take a little getting used to but it really wasn't that bad. i think it rides better than the fxd's. we used to have one of those also and i couldn't go across the state to daytona without it killing me. and although i might ride it once in a while, this is the wife's bike and also let the daughter use.

Cameron was in the middle of blacking one out, he had whitewalls on it, and only had one or two things left to black out on the engine, he couldn't finish it before it sold. It was a sweet looking bike. I liked it enough to think about buying one, how is it for two up riding?

i'll get the wife to answer that one as far as the passenger goes. as far as i was concerned, it handled pretty decent after i got used to it. just like anything else. i never really liked the sportster after riding dereks 94 a few years ago but just like every thing else. i think they did their home work on it. the stock seat on it really bites which is one reason for the two up seat. i think that you and mrs glitch would like it for doing some light cruising around on. the only problem i could see for you is your height maybe. you seem to be pretty comfortable with your lighting bolt so i don't see why you couldn't adjust to that also.

ps, did cameron have any pics before he got rid of it.

I just sold my '05 883/1200 conversion a few months ago, and I wish I hadn't. It was just a solid, nice running bike. The handling was acceptable, and way better than you might expect. My bike was the standard, and the mid controls were a good fit for my 6' frame. There was nothing small about the bike. It was a nice roomy place to put miles on. I never really had a problem with the stock seat either. With the 3.3 gallon tank, you stop fairly often anyway.

The difference between the old solid mount and the '04 and later ones is like night and day. With the exception of wind protection, the Sportster was even a better highway cruiser than my Roadking (Worst bike I ever owned on so many levels.)

Overall I think it's pretty slick, though the seat would HAVE to go. No rust on these nuts, thanks.

I especially like the headlight. I've been thinking about a similar mod to my Ss for some time now.

they are on the stock mounts just turned upside down and backwards, looks like you loose some steering clock from doing it that way, but I dont think he cares. Everyone here thinks I should trade in my 883r and get a nightster 1200. Opinions are like bellybuttons, everybody has one. So she is for sale, for one miiiiilion dollars. That will be the only way I step out of her.
