Unless the perp had a knife of a gun, then "I" don't see any reason to back down. Even with some martial arts training I don't trust my skills against a knife or gun unless I absoulty have too.

Officer the guy followed me from the street into the store. Then made verbal threats to kill me then spat in my face. I then took pre-imptive action and nutralized the threat.

But I'm starting to sound like an internet badass....... So I'll shut up.

I am friends with a legendary badass I grew up with. Ex-jock, former Marine, and absolutely fearless. I got into a little dust-up over someone flipping me off (the story isn't important) and was telling him about how I made some stranger back down and get back in his truck and leave.

His reaction stunned me: He said it was foolish of me to put everything on the line basically because I got my feelings hurt. That was the last thing I thought he'd say. He explained that there was a big difference between fighting for you life or fighting for you ego. He also said he was secure enough in his manhood to walk away from any fight unless a member of his family or his friends were going to get hurt. He walked away from plenty of fights he said.

I wish I could be more like him, but I'm just not a badass like he is. So I still find myself reacting like a slightly evolved monkey when someone insults me, cuts me off in traffic, etc. One day I'll be a true badass and just smile and walk away from stuff like that. Hopefully, my ego will be as strong as my resolve.

There is still a time to ape shit, though...

DJ,

Your friend is wise. (See previous comment about people being psycho and retarded.)

People will shoot you or stab you for no damn good reason. They will regret their incarceration, but they will not give a crap about you, your family, your kids, etc.

My dad had a baseball coach come after him with a bat. It's a game for kids dumba$$. WTF?!?

So let's say Barker clobbered this guy. Unless they cart this guy off in an ambulance (I doubt anyone would take it that far, or be allowed to take it that far.), this guy could be just a likely to roll out to his truck, bring a gun back into the store and kill Barker.

Over what? Spit?

Kinda dumb.

The spit and the nasty stuff that is in spit, could be a threat to your life. Knowing this. That is why I would have went at it.

Otherwise I hope I could have remained coolheaded and reacted with "verbal judo" and not real judo... Both are fun if done correctly

Which is worse, spit or blood. Starts off with the spit, ends with blood and other bodily contents and skin debris. Once a fight starts in earnest it can get real messy real fast.

But to each their own. Walk your own path, may it get you to where you are going by the time you want to get there.

I think anybody who sneezes without covering their mouth and nose and leaving the area MUST be beaten!

Safety is paramount and we cannot tolerate the deliberate spreading of biohazardous substances - whether intentional or due to carelessness.

Kill them ALL!

Our next topic in this thread will be bathroom and public restroom hand washing and the proper procedure for acquiring a hand towel without spreading any personal biohazards and how to enter/use/exit a facility without contracting anyone else's personal biohazards.

"Which is worse, spit or blood." valid very valid.

Which is why I'd used my foot to front stomp the front of his knee. But no fight ever goes as planned. Need to recall the stress training in the Marines can count to 10 before making a stupid choice.

Counting to 10 works except when the opponent only counts to 5.

They had already tried to kill you. That's attempted vehicular assault. To then confront you in a store is unbelievable. People amaze me. All likely to impress his lady, too. Sounds like an insecure, immature, emotionally unstable ogre.

I spent my entire childhood (successfully) fending off bullies as well as my brothers, as I was always small statured for my age and a loner. As an adult I'd still only fire when fired upon, so to speak. The stakes are much higher, in every respect. I can see how you reacted as you did. You handled it well, though I'm unsure of how I'd react to getting spit on.

These are all awesome points of view. Every so often theres a moment where the phrase "one day, he'll do that to the wrong person" applies. And every so little often, someone gets to fill that role. Point is sometimes it can be fun BEING THAT GUY. Either verbally (which I prefer), physically, or both.

Does that make sense to anyone else or am I just sounding like one of those psycho retards?:P

You just never know if that guy is a cop On either party. The idiot could have been an off duty cop or one day the idiot will pull that stunt on an off duty cop.

We had a big deal thing happen between an off duty fireman and an off duty cop. It was a raw deal on both parts and the local media ate it up.

Very true Wes, however whether your in or out of uniform, leo's still look like leo's. Kinda like fellow Marines: ) If your about to get in a scuffle with someone, all you need is 2 seconds to eye them up to know if there's a chance that the antagonist is someone that could be reputable or a complete goober.
